| Any Lab and Yorkie owners out there? Its official. My husband and I will be bringing home a yellow Lab puppy in a week. My yorkie's breeder is a good friend and also breeds Labrador Retrievers. She has a litter that will be ready in a week. I am so excited. I was just wondering if there are any owners of both breeds. I would like to know how the two breeds get along. I know it depends on the dogs but I just want your experience. My yorkie is a very well socialized dog, always in the mood to explore and loves being around larger dogs. Whenever we go to the mall and she sees larger dogs (Labs, German Sheppards..) she goes nuts. Anyway...would love your input. Thanks

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | We have 2 yellow labs-they live outside & are way to big to play with our yorki-poo. The yorkie-poo, Jaxon, will go to the kennel and look at them. When the big dogs are out, he will stand between my legs and watch them. The labs like Jaxon, but they weigh 123 lbs, and 85lbs, which is way to heavy for a 5lb baby. |

| I got a yellow lab for my brother and kept him here for a week and a half and my dogs had a blast. Now when we go home to visit they always play with him. Since you are getting him young you can teach them to be gentle. Good luck and congrats

| That is so exciting! My son and I are really wanting to get 2 yellow labs for our family. My husband thinks I am crazy, but one day I know we'll have those pups here. I'm sure your doggies will get along fine. Please post pics when your pup comes home! |

| We have an 80 lb golden. He is about 11 years old and so good with small dogs. Very gentle! When Tink was a baby we would tell him to lay down if he got to playing too actively and then Tink would just run all over him and chew on his ears and stuff. We did not get him as a puppy so I'm sure you'll have to work with the puppy to teach him to be gentle. But what fun for little Twinkle! Here he is playing keep away with the girls. |

| We have a choc lab that is 6 years old. I couldn't ask for a dog any better around my little ones than her. She is wonderful and Wyatt is all in her face the minute he walks out the door. I would just keep an eye on them for a few days to see how well they will get along. I don't think that you will have anything to worry about. I've attached a few pictures of mine playing together.

| I have a lab and he's really good with Reagan, our yorkie. They don't really play much but that's just b/c our lab is a bit lazy. He's very careful of her. He watches so that he doesn't step on her. While he is laying down she'll come up and mess with him and he tolerates it so well. I don't think he cares for her so much but I think that has a lot to do with him being MY dog and her taking that attention away from him but he doesn't act on it at all. He just really doesn't pay her much attention like I said he just tolerates her. I don't think you'll have any problems with them.

| Oh wow thank you all for the insight. I am just completely in love with Labs and I know that they are very gentle (if taught of course that way) with smaller dogs. I will definitely post pics!

| We have a choc lab who was 8 when we got Tucker. They get along really well and love to play. Rusty is the most gentle dog you could ever meet. That said, I would be very concerned about a lab puppy and a yorkie together. Lab puppies get so big so fast, and I would worry about him hurting your yorkie from just wanting to play with him. How big is your yorkie? Tucker is 9 pounds of steel, and sometimes I worry he is playing too rough with Rusty. They have loved each other since day one, though.

| I have 2 labs and 2 yorkies. The younger lab is pretty dominant so she doesnt get along with my dominant yorkie, but other than that everyone has gotten along very well. All mine were introduced as older dogs so I think everything will be great since you are introducing the lab as a pup!

| We have two retired lab nannies that are wonderful with our houseful of yorkies. Echo gets her face washed daily and Light babysits for Ele's pups. I would be careful with the bounciness of the lab pup and playing, but they are very intelligent and easily trained so you should have no problems.

| Our new lab puppy will definitely go through obedience classes and we will do everything to teach him to play gently with our Yorkie. Twinkie is 9months old and only weighs 3,5lbs so she is quite petite. At least for the first couple of months I will keep a close eye on both of them and NEVER leave them together without my husband or myself in the same room. All your babies are ADORABLE!
