| I have a 3yr old Himalayan/Siamese cat and she and my 1yr old yorkie, Sully are BEST FRIENDS! Here are some pics of them! I've got videos of them playing too, and it's adorable. Penny also licks him clean when he's asleep. It's so cute you almost want to cry! Hehe.

| I have 2 cats, they are 13 and 14 years old. When we got Pippa they justed ignored her and i think they expected her to do the same to them. But Pippa was too nosey and kept going up to them wanting to play. They would swipe at her everytime but she never seemed to learn to stay away until one of them caught her eye badly which needed antibiotics and another drop to coat it while it healed. She still goes up to them but is more cautious now and they seem to prefer that and havent tried to swipe her for ages

| My cat was three years old when I brought Gracie home. At first Bayleigh (cat) would look at me and be like, What the heck is this little thing. She would run from her and watch her from a distance. As they started getting comfortable with eachother, Gracie goes right up to her. The cat would tolerate it for a second then run away. As the days went on the cat would tolerate it longer and longer. Now they play together and the cat even lets her sleep next to her on the bed with me at night. All three of us snuggled up together!!! |

| I just got my little yorkie yesterday. We have her in the kichen with a babygate. All was going fine with cat, he would go up to the gate and check out what was going on. When i had the puppy in my lap he would come up to me and just smell her. So here I thought I was not going to have any problems. So last night I decided I'd let the puppy go on the floor near the cat. Well what a huge mistake that was at first the cat was hissing at her then when she kept going up to him he started grawling and swatted at her. I cut his nails yesterday morning so luckly they weren't sharp and the puppy didn't get hurt, just very scared. Does anyone have any advise on how to at least get my cat to tolerate the puppy without hurting her. Now I am so nervous about them being near each other. |

I think the best way we handled it was to allow the pet who was there first have control until they get used to each other and their smells. We have a small crate for Chloe aside from her playpen. When the cat was getting used to her, we placed her inside her crate in the middle of the floor. Mango did circles around her crate, smelling, hissing, the whole thing for a few weeks, now they play like crazy. When I could sit right in the same room, I put her in her playpen so I could watch closely. Mango (the cat) liked her in the crate much better then the playpen during this time because Mango was able to get to all sides of her while checking her out, and deciding whether we should keep Chloe around or not Now Mango jumps into the playpen when she wants to be near Chloe. They actually love each other now, well, Chloe really loves her for her tail! She loves to ponce for it and I truly believe the cat swishes it in slow motion, just to make Chloe pounce at it. It's the best yorkie toy in the house

| Thank you all for making me feel a little at ease. I really hope Jager (cat) adjusts to her. Since my last post about his swatting at her, he doesn't;t seem to be getting any better. Last night Lady was playing in her little area and Jager went right up to the babygate and hissed at her. I feel so bad cause she didn;t even do anything wrong, I have kept her separated from him, Jager has the whole run of the apt. and she just has the kitchen area and hes still not happy. And once again this morning after I fed Lady, she got very playful and Jager came up to the gate and hissed at her again. I'm a wreck right now cause I had to come to work and leave them alone. Though Lady is well protected in her crate, I just hope Jager doesn't keep going up to her and hissing. Already my boyfriend has mentioned that it this keeps up Lady is going to have to be the one to go, since Jager has been there first (which I do agree) I just hope the two can learn to work it out so no one has to go. If anyone has anymore tips for please I'd appreciate it. I'm so upset about this. |

| I think that might be where my problem lies. Jager has been very spoiled his whole life. I got him the day he was born and bottled fed him. He is very attached to me, thinks I'm the mommy cat and for the past 7 years its been me and him, though he did adjust very well to my boyfriend when we moved in, but all his life he's been the only pet. So I'm sure there is a lot of jealously going on with him. But to be honest Jager has been getting more attention and treats since the arrival of Lady, my boyfriend and I make it a point not to ignore Jager for this exact reason. I am just so scared that Jager is going to hurt Lady, he gets this nasty look to him when he sees her. And today they are all alone with out me watching. I am going to go home for lunch, but as I write this I'm still worried. |

The first part of your paragraph: "Jager has the whole run of the apartment".... NOPE he doesn't have run of the kitchen anymore Your second paragraph: "she is in her crate while you are at work": I bet Jager was happy as can be about that! Deb is right: within a few weeks or so, they will be fine together. And realize, Lady has no idea how small that crate is, until you do what I did to Chloe at 8 months ( I started leaving her out of the crate at night-BIG mistake on my part, now it seems to small to her. But if I remember Chloe 5 months ago, the ONLY time I took her out of her crate was when she was sitting on my lap, or playing with me on the floor or outside. They sleep so much, and I also think they feel more secure in the crate when they are little, and while she is sleeping in her crate Jager can be having the whole apartment if she is sleeping in her carte and Jager will be happy to have his kitchen back! (I'd just be sure Jager could get to all sides of her crate where you place it, I watched Mango and the more he got to circle and smell her, the quicker the adjustment went. I might mention to, whenever Mango was sneekign around her, he made sure I wasn't around and thought I wasn't watching. Also I remember when my daughter went through this, her cat hid for months. I think Jager is past that point (which is good for both of them)And as Deb said, she won't mind the hissing. Let's just hope Lady doesn't learn to hiss!!
