| I would definitely get the Great Pyrenese. I hear they are a great guard dog, family dog, etc. That's what I would love to have if I had a piece of acreage. The only thing is they drool--a lot.

| I would stay away from Malamutes! I had one that jumped up and pulled a cat right out of my arms and proceded to try to kill it. This dog also cornered my bloodhound puppy and tried to kill her too. The neighbor was boarding two malamutes and they killed her yorkie. I loved the bloodhound!! She was great!! My Labs were always good around smaller dogs too. I saw a Leonberger for the first time this week-end. What a gorgeous dog!!!!!!!! The owner said they were water rescue and herding dogs. I forgot to ask if they were good around small dogs. I wouldnt come into a yard that had a Leonberger as they are soooooooo big and look mean, even though they are not. |

They are the perfect size too. Most are 25 to 35 lbs. and 14 inches at the shoulder. Here's a pic of one of my girls. Her name is Ridgetops Blazing Sky. | |

| A huskie killed a yorkie in the pet smart in canada not that long ago..somthing to think about too...hate to burst an bubble.. but I was shocked that a huskie did that.. I would do lab if anything.. they are so gentle.. all you have to worry about is size, but personality would not go after a small dog.. |

| I had a weimaraner before and he was the best dog ever, he was very smart and beautiful too. He was great with our cat but.. I didn't had yorkies before so I don't know. good luck with you search... oh by the way he is a good guard dog... our lab wasn't ... too friendly ...they let the burglar in... but all dogs have different personality and I think depends on the training too. yorkies are the best tho.

| Right now I'm thinking a great pyrenees, here's some info: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/greatpyrenees.htm It looks like the males can be agressive with other animals, so maybe I would go for a female. That sounds like what I'm looking for. I think... |

| Besides our Daisy we have a 155 pound St. Bernard & a 98 pound Collie. Both are great with her and love her. Both give her lotsa kisses which make her a soaking wet mess! One thing we watch out for is that when the big guys get excited they don't realize they can easily step on Daisy so we are sure to pick her up out of the way. Raise them together and they should be fine. Good Luck!

| Boo the Boxer has been the best family dog I have ever personally had the pleasure of knowing. And lucky me, Boo is part of MY family. She is extremely intelligent, intuitive, loving, protective, and just plain old fun. She has a completely different relationship with each family member -- from our daughter who used to paint her toe nails and play dress up to our son who was truly his human sibling and would get down on the floor and play doggie games with her. Boo even invented her own game to play with the children -- a game with rules that had to be followed or she would quit. She has been an incredible "farm dog" helping with the horses and the best Yorkie baby sitter imaginable. Here are a couple of my favorite "Boo" pics: |

| Only because I am partial to the Breed, I would suggest a Mastiff. They are THE ultimate in couch potatoes and extremely gentle. Just see for yourself... |
