| I don't know how in the world it would have been possible for me to pay for my own car at only 16 years old..even 18! You're still a kid and in highschool then. I was in school from 8-3:30 every day and was in dance classes 3-4 days a week for normally 2-4 hours each day after school. I did work for a vet all throughout highschool - usually only about 6-8 hours a week during the school year (making min. wage) and then worked like 20 hours or maybe more a week there in the summer. I was so busy with school and dance that I didn't have time to make enough money to buy a car. And shouldn't kids be allowed to be kids to a point and not have to start working at 14 years old to earn enough money for a car? Having to go to work so young to make all that money seems like it would make kids grow up too fast...and grades might suffer as well and the kids would miss out on normal kid activities like sports, dance, etc. I guess I "earned" my cars by being a good kid and making good grades...but there is no way I could have paid for a car on my own.

I graduated at 16, Emancipated at 17, and married at 18, bought a house and yorkie at 19, and bla bla bla. I don't want to finish that story because I am still dealing with the rest of it. All while working fulltime if not 2 jobs. I think that kids should be kids and buy there own stuff or at least help with it. I think kids today think to much about themselves and not about what others are sacrificing for them. They just take take take and don't even realize what they have when it is right in front of them. I would have given anything to be a cheerleader or done after school sports but that was not an option for me.

| Christian and cars do NOT EVER mix! Okay, back for an update. Christian wasn't joking, he thinks he deserves this car. My other son and daughter paid for their own cars, Christian isn't reliable and will NOT be getting a car until I can completely trust him. Heres the story I took Bella, my pregnant Yorkie to the vet. We have four cars as of now. My car, my husband's car, my daughter's car and a back up. I told Christian to be good and I have my phone with me. He said ok, he maybe going to his friends. I agreed to that. My husband was at work at the time, he has a blue Dodge Ram truck with four doors, I love it! Anyway,I took my red SUV. Christian lied to me. He invited his girlfriend Sara over which is a rule at our house. No boyfriends/girlfriends over without parents home! Chirstian knows it, my daughter Stephanie knows and my son Nick knew it too(he's in college) God only knows what they were doing. Christian must have been trying to impress Sara so he took our back up T-Bird to the pizza place. I found that out when I returned an hour later with Bella and saw there was no T-Bird in the garage. I frantically checked outr (very big, I'll admit) house for him. He wasn't anywhere! A parent's worst fear is something horrible happening to their kid(s) If you've ever temperarily lost a child, you know the feeling. That's the feeling I had when I couldn't find my son. Guessing that he might be at his friend's house, I called them. I really like the Todds. They're nice people. Mary Todd, my son's friends mom, was the only one home. She hadn't seen him. Mary and I searched everywhere. Poor Bella was panting in the back seat. That would have been the last thing I needed then, Bella going into labor! We finally spotted the recognizable T-Bird among a sleazy teenage pizza place hang out. I ran in that place, dragged Christian out and literally started screaming at him. I was so mad and relieved too. Mary drove the T-Bird back to my house and I dropped her off down the street. We also dropped Sara of at her house. Christian is grounded until January. Not only did he lie to me about being at his friend's house, he had Sara over the house and took the car! Ugh, what a mess it was! I'm glad he didn't crash the car or get hurt. By doing that, he proved to me that he isn't mature or reliable enough to have a car. He's not getting one from me or anyone else for a LONG time. |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | A Porsche!? is he serious? haha. I mean, I can understand - all 15 year old boys want a car. It comes with the territory. But he wants a Porsche? wow lol. For my 16th birthday, I want a candy apple red mustang convertable with tan leather interior. I've wanted that car for as long as I can remember. I'm not exactly holding my breath, though. EDIT: I just saw your update! WOW. I would never have the guts to do that if I were him.

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | I agree with the last two posters. It sounds to me like your son is beyond spoiled. And why did you need to add in there "very big house"? It's great that you have a big house, I'm sure you earned it, but why is that important? and who has a "back up" t-bird? I've heard of back up Hondas, SUV's, Mercedes, Mustangs...but a t-bird? If my 15 year old son would be so selfish as to say that he wants a Porsche, then steal my 'back up' t-bird, he'd wish he was just grounded until January.
