If we want it bad enough we can do it.It realy is about lifelong changes. Star with one thing ,like omit breads. Then maybe next cut out all butter. If you are having chips and Salsa use low fat wheat thins to subsitute for the potatoe chips. Cut portions,no seconds. Drink lots of water,have a water bottle with you at all times. You can do it!!!!! We can do it!!!!!! was at loew's the other morning lokking like crap,no makeup,hair a mess,just a frummpy old mess. I seen an ol love,he was loooking at me from a distance ...like OMG is that her!!! I went the other way and hide in the back of the store for about 20 minutes. lol. I have really changed in the last 3 -4 years after I quit smoking,aging...etc. |

To lose weight it is a great idea to eat negative calorie foods such as veggetables and fruits. This would let you eat alot of the foods needed and help you not feel too guilty when you do have cofee cake with your non fat latte. ;) Also, protein. Beans, lean meats such as pork turkey breast chicke. Cook at home and take left overs to work. Weight watchers is a great way to keep you on track. Water is great, but that is hard for me. I dont like water much so I crystal light my water and keep in mind that fruits and veggie are pletiful in the water department. Working out should be fun and enjoyable so i mix it up when possible. I walk my dog and jump rope do weights ride my bike or the stationary one and find it easier when i listen to my favorite music or audio book. (sigh) I have to trick myself into staying in shape. OH, hot drinks make you feel full. Try a relaxing tea before bed or whenever it is too late to eat something hearty. And always remember your body needs fuel to stay strong so do not not eat, that would work until your body fails :D |

Thanks for all the great tips. I'll try the tea at night without any sweetner. :) I wish I could find an affordable excerise bike. The other day I told hubby I wanted a bike and wanted to start riding on the bike trail his school has. I dunno if anything will ever come of that though. |

Tilly'sMom-- The way I've been trying to lose weight and what's worked in the past is to workout about an hour a day, and to eat almost all unprocessed foods. Like, I'll eat whole grain brown rice with tons of fresh veggies and some chicken with no salt seasoning. For snacks I do LF cheeses and fruits, or veggies with low fat, homeade dip. I also used to bake a whole wheat tortilla and make fresh salsa to eat it with, super good! And cottage cheese was a favorite of mine when I was dieting (although now I am watching my sodium so I don't eat it too often, I do ricotta instead which is lower in sodium). I eat TONS of salads, with goat cheese, vinegar, avacado, any veggies I have in the house, lol. Seriously just stopping eating LF dressings has helped me lose because there's hardly any sodium in vinegar and oil. If I have chocolate, I have a few pieces of dark chocolate. If I have ice cream, I get pints instead of half gallons and only have one serving size. And most of the time if I have ice cream I will have pineapple or strawberries (fresh) on them. I also like sugar free jello with LF coolwhip for sweet snacks! I really think it's all in moderation. Like today I had a piece of pizza... yes everyone else was having more, but I stuck with one small slice of cheese, felt ok with it, and added a little more time onto my workout tonight. We had leftover so I tossed it out so I wasn't tempted to dig into it tonight. Those are a few things I am doing now to try to lose the mega amount of weight I gained this year and before doing that I lost about 65 lbs in 8 months so I know it works for sure :) |
I weighed in today at 150 pounds...down 1 pound. That's A-Okay...1 pound is 1 pound...then 2, then 3...and so on. Only 25 more to go!!! Have to give us all credit, we're doing a fantastic job...WE CAN DO THIS!!! |

I woke up to the dreaded hormonal bloat today. Even though I knew it was coming and know that it's hormonal-------I still feel as though I am a fat cow who gained 5-7 lbs overnight.:mad: I will struggle all day to not just eat whatever because I'm big as a house anyways......... when the hormones hit, logic goes right out the door.:( Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr....... I was trying to find a list I had on foods that cut down on need for sweets & curbing hunger. But I could find something I had cut out of the paer sometime back. Although I know salsa was one of those & I have done this several times - tomatoes are good for you & the salsa does take way that desire for sweets. I found this on usaweekend.com: 7 healthful new findings A roundup of the latest research from the food frontier 1. Potatoes: best at beating hunger. What food is most effective at shutting down hunger? Potatoes, reports a new Australian study. Of 38 foods tested, plain boiled potatoes were the best "diet food," creating the greatest sense of fullness (satiety) in 41 subjects. The next most filling, in order: fish, oatmeal, oranges, apples, brown pasta. In snacks, popcorn was the hunger-suppressing winner, far better than ice cream, peanuts, chips and candy. The worst food tested? Croissants. Fatty, sugary foods were least likely to curb hunger, and spurred a greater calorie intake two hours later. High-fiber foods were the top hunger suppressors. Nutrition profile: 1/2 cup boiled potato Folic acid -- 7mcg Sodium -- 4mg Calcium. -- 6mg Potassium -- 256mg Magnesium -- 15mg Calories -- 67 Protein -- 1.3g Carbohydrate. -- 15g Fat -- 0.1g Vitamin C -- 6mg -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The clear message, according to the researchers: To curb your eating, select foods with built-in hunger controls. 2. Meat: Cook on low heat. Eating lots of fried meat increases the risk of kidney cancer, according to a large international study conducted by Swedish investigators. Cooking meat with high heat, as in frying, causes potent carcinogens to form. It's better to slowly roast or stew meat at low temperatures, or microwave it. Also, eating lots of meat and little fruit can raise your odds of pancreatic cancer about 25 percent, Italian researchers report. Meat equaled smoking in promoting the cancer. Eating lots of produce, particularly orange and dark green vegetables, lowered the risk of kidney cancer. 3. Cheese: Less serious heart hazard? Serge Renaud, the French researcher who first credited red wine for less heart disease in France, now says cheese is not as hazardous as believed. Cheese isn't linked to high rates of heart disease the way fatty milk, cream and butter are, even though all such dairy foods are laden with artery-clogging saturated fat, Renaud's new research finds. Previously, the researchers found a 50 percent reduced risk of fatal heart attacks in men who drank more than 2 cups of black tea daily. 5. Honey: the sweetest laxative. Athens University researchers fed honey (doses of 1.5 to 3.5 ounces) to healthy Greeks. Ten hours later, nine of 20 volunteers reported a laxative effect. Likely reason: Many people can't fully absorb sugars in honey, mainly fructose. Researchers declared honey a mild laxative. It's not advised for those with irritable bowel syndrome. 6. Fish Oil: good heart medicine. In a year-long study of 610 patients, Norwegian researchers found that 4,000mg of fish oil (omega-3 fatty acids) daily boosted the odds of keeping vein grafts open after coronary bypass surgery by 18 percent. In subjects with hypertension, daily fish oil lowered blood pressure a few points. The amount of fish oil used in the studies is found in 10 ounces of salmon. 7. Onions: May shield you from stomach cancer. Eating half an onion daily might reduce your risk of stomach cancer by about 50 percent, according to a large new Dutch study. Onions' antioxidants, such as quercetin, may help neutralize carcinogens. Yellow and red onions have more antioxidants than white. |
