Hey - we're not too far from each other as I'm in Bacliff.

In '05, my friends, son and Chester spent 17 hours making a 2.5 hour trip. We've decided to wait a little longer this year, which may or may not be a mistake.

I'm only about 12 blocks from the gulf so I'm a bit nervous, but try not to let it rule my emotions. I've been through earthquakes in California, tornadoes in north Texas, hurricanes in the south and snowstorms in Utah. About the only thing I haven't done is the fires in the west. It doesn't matter where you live, there are natural disasters.

It does pay to be prepared, so I'm headed off to Wally-World for a flashlight, food and water. I have more dog food in the house than I do human food!

Hang in there everybody.

Villette - what part of town are you in? I have a sister in Spring. If things get bad, I'm going there.

Well...I slept pretty late today (rough night last night with someone in my family) so I can't vouch for the rain we got this morning (judging by how it looks outside though, it's obvious that we did get SOME) - but yesterday and last night it definitely rained. I am just so sick of all this mess. I don't mind some rain...but this is just insane

It's been raining here off and on all day. Seems like it keeps building on top of our County. We've been discussing plans if we have to evacuate.

If this thing stays on the projected track .... we are out of here tuesday. gassed up the old dog house today and going to gas up my car tonight. (gas is going to raise again). don't know where we are going but we will find an rv park somewhere safe.

I dont know if someone has posted this yet, but it has gone up to a Cat 5 now. There have been 8 deaths in the Caribbean..everyone please be safe!

Isn't the latest info that it will miss Texas? Flooding will still be an issue, but will those of you in the valley or on the coast still need to evacuate? Just curious what your officials are saying.

no need to evacuate... we are set pretty good now. it is expected to weaken even more. and head even more south too. great news for us. I can tollerate a small hurricane but not a big one. I think we will get nothing more than a couple strong storms out of it.
