I've stocked up on extra food and water for all my doggies, but I don't think we'll evacuate this time.

My daughter-in-law is in Nacogdoches. We could go there, but she's due to have my #7 g-baby in a couple of weeks and with my son in Iraq, I don't want to do that to her. Of course, we'll go there for the baby's birth on September 6th.

Well I PRAY and HOPE that we aren't know where NEAR Hurricane DEAN...........RITA was bad enough I can't even imagine DEAN. We are closely watching it though and my job is getting things in order incase we have to evacuate SCARY STUFF!!!! Not to mention that we have a house under contract and our home is SOLD

I just saw that!! It has winds of 145 mph with gusts up to 179 mph! And it still has days to build. This is getting really scary.

That is catastrophic!!

It is making me so nervous. I am in NY visiting and my fiance, Benji and Bella are at home. I am supposed to be coming back next Wednesday but we'll see about that. I am really worried because I am not home with them. : (

I hear you about the rain. With all the flooding we've been having and Tropical Storm Erin dumping more rain on us, we're about to float away.

Hopefully we won't get a direct hit! Even if we don't, we'll get plenty of rain and high winds.

I bet the new roads will be packed with people hidding our way since we're in the evacuation route. Too bad they're not finished with the road yet.

ditto.. i live there too in Harlingen so if it comes our way we will board up our house and take the kiddos with us and leave...... I hope not...

I was living in Houston in 1983 when hurricane Alicia hit dead on - and that was only a cat 3 - very scary - inches of glass in the downtown streets from shattered windows in skyscrapers - many tornadoes throughout the area!!!

Please take care of yourselves and get out of the area if you can and need too!!

Please PM me if you think you might be evacuating through Waco. We can give you and your pets a break at least and help you figure out routes around here other than I35. If you need a place to rest or stay, we're here too. Hugs!!

I just got this in my e-mail tonight as a severe weather alert for my area

County urges residents to prepare for Hurricane Dean

Local emergency officials monitoring Hurricane Dean urge residents to keep aware as Dean may impact the coast Wednesday and make landfall Thursday.

I knowwww. My grandmother is evacuating to our house since she lives in South McAllen and they flood with just a little thunderstorm. I logged on to krgv.com and I am tracking Dean each day. Stay safe!!
