That was the most beautiful love story I have ever read. I wish they all ended so wonderful. I could feel your pain as you watched him walk away. I am sitting here crying just thinking about it. It also shows how very much you loved him. Thank you for sharing that heart warming story. Carol & Buddy

| ![]() This is one thing I feel needs saying...when you know you are doing what is right for you, your dog, your family whatever..you do not need the approval of others. The street runs both ways...if a breeders says.."I do not understand how you can give your dogs away"..I can come back and say "I do not understand how you can not! Love to some means gathering the object of their love in their arms..to others it means opening your arms and letting it go...but it is still love in both cases. Sermon over...LOL |

| ![]() I think alot of people on here are not against re-homing, sometimes you have no choice, I agree until you walk in the other person shoes, you don't know...I have had to rehome a golden & cocker in the past, cause I knew that I wasn't giving them what they needed and I loved them so much I wanted them to have children in their lives, which mine were grown...It takes a big person with a big heart to let go of something you love...I spoke up to soon without thinking about how my reply would sound. I apologize for that, I understand why breeders rehome, and I understand why people that can't keep or the family has issues rehome..I have a rehomed dog living with me now, and I am very thankful for him...but I guess what I was trying to say the first time, don't just get a dog and in the back of your mind think I will rehome the dog in a couple of months if it isn't what I want, its so hard on the poor dogs. thats why you research and find great breeders and open up your heart and work and give the dog time to adjust.... ![]()

My post was on Pet owners and breeders that dont seem to care where their dog ends up. I had a little Chi mix I took in to rehome because the people said they couldnt keep him we treated him and took care for him and found him a good home. I diidnt take him in to keep or anything . I just took him in because of the condition he was in at the time , noone wanted him. But once he was well and ready to go. We had got attached to us and I found him a home and The lady that took him walked him on a leash and he too would stop and look back at me and It broke my heart. and I told hubby I would not take another rescue in because I get to attached to them. Its to heatbreaking for me. But then the next rescue came and I did take it in and cared for it and rehomed it. But every time it was heartbreaking to me. But not as bad as that first little male. Ill always remember him. Unlike you I didnt know the people who took him and I never saw him again. So Ill always have that sadness of not knowing and wonder if I did the right thing, In my heart I think that I didnt, I should of kept him.

For some reason your story made me think of the foster families out there who take in these little ones, love them and give them a home, often nursing them back to health, potty training them, etc., only to know right from the beginning that they will be sending them away. I give them a LOT of credit because I don't think I could do that. Bernie's fosters have been awesome, and I keep them updated with pics and stories of his adventures. One week I got a little lazy, and they called to check on him, lol. Why didn't they keep him? Because they know there's another one out there who needs a chance just like he did, and they CAN'T keep them all. There are many people out there, quality breeders, show dog homes, foster homes, etc., who go into relationships with their dogs KNOWING full well that they are temporary. (whether for a few months or many years). I gotta give them credit for doing wonderful things for these animals (whether it's improving the breed or giving them a second chance in life) then they make the loving choice to send them to a loving family. I know it's got to be hardest on the breeders who spend years with the animal and often raise him or her from a pup. Anyway, I could babble about this all day...

| ![]() As a member here who has re homed two adults I can say for me I had personal reasons that I would not post to share with the world why I feel 100 % my girls would be better off in another home. One has left already, I get wonderful updates on her and I am very happy I placed her in that home. Seanna leaves on the 26th and I feel I have the best possible home for her. If for any reason the homes can not keep them, they are to come back here to live forever. I hope that dosen't happen, but I do love them very much and could not imagine them going through this more than once. This has forever changed something in me and I will be the first to say to make SURE as much as you can be sure of anything that your life is 100 % forever ready for a pet. For those of you who feel you need to tell me this or that, its your right to post it as much as I have a right to post here, but I will not get into a debate about something already so hard for me to deal with. I just wanted to say that before you judge or make conclussions about situations consider you do not have all the facts and its not reasonable to expect people to post everything going on in their life. Now, I know some people like to post that and may even need to post all.....lol this could go on forever. I will end here. Angie |
