| Upset about the Cingular At&T merge I'm use to Cingular & Bellsouth here in Louisiana. Now we're going to be At&t? It's sort of annoying. I rather Cingular than At&t. Who else has Cingular? |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | It's not a new merger. A couple years back (3) Cingular bought out AT&T's phone service. They changed the name but after realizing a few years down the line they are just switching back to use the more familiar and old name of AT&T. Seems business was better then because people new and were use to that name. So now dummies that they are they are spending a heck of a lot of money to go back to the first name. Your service won't be different than it is now it will just revert back to the original name.

| I know my service wont change, but it's sort of crazy to spend money just to change a name. |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | They messed up by changing the name because a lot of long standing customers walked away 1) because their package prices were higher if and when you converted fully (which you had to do to upgrade your phone) and 2) no one knew what sort of service they were going to provide so they figured why not take their chances and move on and get a good deal elsewhere from someone that was around.

| True, but Cingular has really good packages. I've had them since 01, & my parents have had them since 98. I'm not switching at all. |

| i had a way better plan and rate with at&t when we had it, then we had to switch over to cingular when they merged since we broke our phone and couldnt buy another at&t one, and i made them keep my at&t plan and then when that was up the same plan was ridiculous, i used to pay about 80 a month and now i pay about 120 or more a month plus with cingular i always have these dumb downloads that charge me 9.99 a month and im like i didnt even say they could and i never had that with at*t if i called and said no downloads they wouldnt let anything be charge to my bill but cingular doesnt .

| Mergers & Takeovers: The 2 biggest lies: "There will be no changes after the "merger" & Hi, we're from the "takeover" company and we're here to help you!!!!" In 15 yrs of banking we were "Merged" 6 times.

| I used Cingular (Their names were:Cellular One, then Comcast, then Cingular) for over 5 years. No offense, but in my area, they were horrible!!! I used to call my mother on my cell and so many times she's say, "I can't hear you, I can't hear you." Then she told me not to call her on my cell anymore! Well, I switched to Verizon, and haven't had not ONE dropped call. Granted, they don't offer packages like Cingular, but here in Jersey, they offer the absolute best phone service!

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I had cingular maybe a year after they merged up because I was still under contract. The service was horrible here in NY and I got so many dropped calls. I also didn't like the price change from my att package to the cingular one. I went with TMobile and haven't regretted it. I have three lines that share a package with unlimited nights, weekends and it is costing me way less than the same package from Cingular. Cingular has way too many areas that are considered out of network unless you take the nationwide plan. So for me that sucked. I went to FL last year and didn't realize it and then when I got home on my bill I had to pay an additional $90 in roaming charges.

| i've had cingular ever since 1990 when it was Bellsouth mobility. then it was cingular one, now its at&t. never known of it to be comcast here in Al. their cell service actually started out here as far as I know as bellsouth mobility. I had at&t long distance carrier for a while on my home phone, but not for long. I changed to a different long distance carrier and I still dont care for at&t at all. I wish here they would just leave it as cingular one for cell service and bellsouth for phone and dsl. the same company also must have a part in direct tv as you get a discount on direct tv bill if you have bellsouth and cingular one here. so there is some kind of connection with them. Actually Bellsouth did own it all anyway. Bellsouth has been here ever since I can remember. Altho it was called South Central Bell for a long time before it was bellsouth. Thats here in Al, in my area, I dont know about other states. I dont understand the big to do with changing names all the time, like banks and everything else is now days. But I think its to make it harder to find out anything about their corporate business affairs for the general population. Or maybe. lol

Our Blessings R Many Donating Member | When is this suppose to happen? When Cingular took over AT&T, we didn't switch to cingular, although our billing comes from Cingular. We are seriously thinking of making the switch to T Mobile. We have heard good things about their service. We constantly get dropped calls and find that to be very annoying Cingular tells us we need to switch to them as AT&T eventually will be phased out all together, and now we are learning that AT&T is going to be taking over Cingular????? INTERESTING |

| i have cingular now. i had everything else before and i think cingular is the best. if they make a mistake (which they do a lot) they will fix it right a way but w my others.....they made their mistake like it was my mistake or misunderstanding and wouldn't fix the problem until i went to higher management. so i like cingular

| I think it all depends on where you live. I have always had Cingular and get great service. Way back when I first got a cell phone, everyone had dropped calls and low reception. There were not as many towers out in the rural area I live in. But Cingular was probably the best at that time. Now most of the carriers have plenty of coverage, but we have always stuck with Cingular. When you stay with one company your rates stay low, but when you switch, you have to take the going rate at that time and it can mean a big increase. We only had to have a jump once and that was when we had to change our plan to add a third phone for my son. It seemed expensive at the time but now everyone else thinks we have a good plan. About those add on download charges -- some of the ads are very misleading! My son answered a text message for a free song download. Somewhere there was supposed to be a line about charging a monthly membership fee of $9.99 -- that was if you downloaded anything or not. I had a hard time getting it off -- but Cingular was very helpful. It was not Cingular charging me it was some other thing -- that might have been bluehippo or something like that. We had two I had to work on and then my son got the ultimatum -- a third would lose his phone for him -- no more downloads! I got him the new Razr that has itunes and said -- buy from itunes with your card, and then download from your own computer only. I think those companies are purposefully misleading -- especially to young people. I don't mind itunes -- they are very straightforward.
