I know!!!! I was like...what the heck is in this.......flavored chalk? Ha ha :) |
So what happens if you do cheat and go out for mexican or chinese? What happens? We normally go out for Mexican every Friday night. Tonight we didn't :( and I'm missing it! |
If you're still in the induction phase of Atkins and you eat food you shouldn't then you kind of blew it. Once your body gets into the weight loss mode you have to keep it going...if you eat something you shouldn't it stops and you have to start again...that's why it's important not to cheat. |
O.k. ladies...what's for dinner? I just made whole wheat wraps with turkey, bacon, lettuce and cheese with chipolte sauce and a few BBQ pork rinds on the side. For desert I'll either have chocolate ice cream or maybe a flavored Riccotta desert. Oh...and I had a Diet Rite too. |
Monterrey jack cheese & chicken in a low carb tortilla. It was really good! |
Oooh, I love Montery Jack cheese...I'll have to try that one. I've reached the point where I'm full most of the time so I have to remind myself to eat and the meals are getting smaller. |
I still feel hungry I think. I definatley do not forget to eat !!!! What point are you guys in? Today is day 6 for me. (Oh and 4 pounds lighter!) |

Well I cheated on New Year's Eve so I guess I'll consider this is day 6 for me too. I went down 6 pounds but when i started working out these last few days I put on like 2 pounds. So let's hope that's muscle :p I'm going to stop weighing myself. Because the proof really is in the way my clothes fit...THEY DON'T :p I really need to get me some smaller pants, but I'm afraid to just yet. I've lost a total of ALMOST 40 pounds now!! |
Also I should say, I've been doing this diet since beginning of October. I think my stomache has just really shrunk and that's why I'm not really hungry. |
Are we the only 3 doing this? Where is everyone??? :D ;) Well my husband is doing it with me. BUT - we had a bday party on Saturday and HE CHEATED ! He ate sloppy joes with the bun , chips, AND cake and icecream! BAD BAD! I had 4 almonds and two cold raw hotdogs! Last night for dinner we had chicken wings!!!! we just peppered them and season salt and fryed them in vegetable oil. They were awesome too! No carbs - right??? |
I glanced over various pages (and did not read them all). Folks, you need to eat several little meals a day. Preferably somewhere around 4 - 6 small meals. Those of you eating only breakfast and dinner...this doesn't work. Your blood sugar levels spike and drop dramatically. The key is to keep your blood sugar levels steady. If you don't, you end up being really sleepy, irritable, etc. Reducing carbs is one thing, but total calorie consumption per day is also something to keep an eye out for. For those of you that want to loose weight/burn fat, etc. I recommend working out, BUT I also recommend eating MORE. That's right. Eating more! BUT you have to eat healthy food. Here is a typical meal plan that I would recommend: Meal 1 Serving of Cottage Cheese (substitute yogurt if you want) Banana Meal 2 2 Hard Boiled Eggs Small orange Meal 3 Grilled Chicken salad (grilled chicken, cranberries, spinach, feta cheese, and balsamic vinagrette) Meal 4 Carrots w/ hummus dip. Meal 5 Seared ahi tuna on a bed of spinach w/ ginger dressing. I adapted the following meal plan from my bodybuilding diet. This is something that I would recommend for anyone, as it is easy to make and is not that boring. I actually reduced the carbs in this meal plan. You want to work out and build larger muscles. Why? Because w/ larger muscles, you burn more fat and calories (due to a high metabolism). And because you burn more calories, you get hungrier faster (if you eat "healthy foods" and not junk, because your body processes healthy food faster. Women do not have to worry about getting bulky. It is very difficult for women to get large enough to have a massive muscular physique comparable to men. Avoid fried foods - yes, avoid the fried chicken you ate last night. No bacon. Avoid sodium filled foods - such as hot dogs, sausage, etc. No frozen meals as they are full of fat and salt. Salt makes you retain water. If you want to do an Atkins diet, where you keep protein levels high,...stick to white meats such as chicken and fish. Avoid red meat. |

And yes, I think we are the only 3 crazy enough to do this. :p It's working thought right?:D |
Just a tip. Freeze your yogurt. It then becomes a "frozen" yogurt. Similar to ice cream. Use a metal spoon to chip into it when you let it thaw for just a small time. I learned this tip from a professional male model. It helps satisfy sugar cravings. |

But I do know there are yogurt companies that use Splenda in their yogurt, which would reach both calories and carbs. |
They do make low carb yogurt, it's in the yogurt section. Should we have a weigh in day? This will keep eachother motivated! Every friday let's weigh ourselves in the morning and post how many pounds lost. |
I've decided to weigh myself on Sunday morning. I've reached a point where I can feel and see that my body is reshaping but it's not showing on the scale as a loss now. I remember doing this the first time I did Atkins...I was discouraged until I read the book and figured out what was going on and then I was happy with the results. My clothes all fit differently now and they look better than before and that's what counts to me. Oh, and now instead of wearing my solitare with the ring guard as my wedding ring...I can wear my wedding band with them...it was too tight before to have them all on together. So, I know I'm on the right track. :) |
Maybe we should post a "before" picture!!!!! :D I actually have a body shot on here somewhere where I was showing off a under cover carrier. I'm not scared ! :D |
I am so excited I am on day seven now and have lost 5 pounds from when I started weighing myself (about day 3):D :D :D I have really stuck to it this time and have been really good!! I can't wait to see what my two week total will be!:D We had taco's last night and I found these low carb tortillas (salsa) and they were so good, my son even likes them and he doesn't usually like taco anything! He's five and I didn't know if I would even get him to try them but he really love's them! There are only 6 carbs in one and they are huge!! I really want to try some of the yogurt and stuff but I think I will wait a while longer, it seems like the sweetner's tend to mess me up a little with the rate of weight loss. |
Ok.I'm back from vacation and I am sure I put on ten pounds  I haven't actually weighed yet... I'm going shopping today and am ready to start.I feel so fat!!!! What do I buy? I know chicken, what about ground beef? I guess I need to do a search. Let's see ,I can have fish right. can someone list the good and bad? Thanks! |

What brand are the tortillas that you have? I have only found the Mission Carb Control tortillas to be really good. They have 5 carbs for the fajita size. |

I am sooo proud of you girls!! Go You!! I had to drop weight quick to get approved for my breast reduction and I chose the low/no carb diet as well. Only I thought at the time that I was suppose to eat less than 10 carbs a day!! I stuck to it for almost 3 weeks and felt fantastic......most people say that this diet either makes you feel extremely great and energetic or extremely tired. I also invested in some Ketone strips....checks to see if my body is in ketosis. I looked forward to getting up every morning and peeing on that strip to see if it was purple!!! If it was, then it meant that I had rid my body of sugar and the fat was now being eaten away! That was a big reward for me. I ate scrambled eggs, cheeses, salads, ranch, pepperoni, pickles, broccoli, taco salads, steak, chicken...my most fav. was hamburger patties with lemon pepper dipped in mayo and mustard sauce!! Yummy. I ended up losing 18 pound in 3 weeks.....I did not weigh myself in those 3 weeks because I didn't want to get discouraged. My mom was on the diet for almost a year.....she would stay faithful during the week and then allow herself to cheat on Sat. and Sun. She lost around 40lb.......she has kept it off for over 2 years now. Good luck to all.....keep up the good work! |
Count me in the low-carb lifestyle. I was off my diet for Nov-Dec. I will start today. I do kimkims......and have lost 173lbs. |

This is the site I joined to get 'support'. Needless to say, some of us don't get it at home................my hubby is super fit and can eat anything. I started using the my own version of no-nonsense diet........with low-carbing. The owner of the website posted my testimonial here. http://www.annecollins.com/diet-succ...eight-loss.htm |
I would like to advise that some of you take a nutrition course. Or at least, talk to a certified nutritionist. Not a Jenny Craig counselor. Not a Nutri-System salesman. A real certified nutritionist. It's easy to me to spot where there are problems in an individual's diet. BTW, those Ketone sticks are useless and a gimmick. ASSUME: Your body needs 2,000 calories per day. If you consume MORE than 2,000 calories, your body will get bigger. Whether muscle or fat, that depends on what your body is trying to do. If you consume LESS than 2,000 calories, your body will look for a source within your body to make up for the required calories. Namely, it will either eat fat or muscle to get it (more than likely BOTH). Think of your 2,000 calories as a scale. This is what you have to work with. From those 2,000 calories, you can only have "X" number of calories of protein, "Y" number of calories of carbs, and "Z" number of calories from fats. *BTW, each person needs a general amount of carbs (in grams), proteins, and fats based on their lifestyle. From here, you figure out what foods are needed to fill your requirements for the whole day. A BIG MAC or a $6 Burger from Carl's Jr...those are both 1,000+ calorie items. They will each make up half your calorie requirements for the day, but as a whole...they are loaded in fats, and very little carbs and protein. At the end of the day, while some of you may satisfy your calorie requirements for the day,...the amount of protein and carbs is probably not enough, and too heavy on fats. (There are good fats and bad fats). |
I may come off as a bit harsh, rude or snobby. But I try to keep people away from gimmicks as much as possible. Nutrition, by itself, is basic in understanding. The rules are simple. It's the actual implementation of eating right that is hard. Fitness is the same thing (weight lifting for example). The rules are simple. But the proper form to use when lifting is hard. Please don't take my comments the wrong way. I would love to help those of you who want some guidance. People always want quick solutions or quick fixes. That is why Jenny Craig, Atkins, South Beach Diet, etc. makes so much money each year. George Foreman makes a ton of money from his lean mean grilling machines. 24 Hour Fitness and Bally's spend a lot of advertising around the Holidays because they make $$$$$ after the New Years and near summer. |
