| What's your fav party dish/appetizer? Our annual Christmas party for friends and family is this Sunday and I have a menu somewhat planned but would like some new ideas for something different. Ya'll give me some ideas of your favorite appetizers or party foods. Thanks, Carol

| Is that little emoticon in your thread title supposed to be a plate? LOL! Anyways... My favorite apps are Mississippi Sin w/fresh bread. YUM!!! I also love the traditional Shrimp Cocktail. And I'm a huge fan of Tastefully Simple's Fiesta Party Dip. I also love those little veggie pizza's you make with crescent rolls. Yum. |

| Yes, it's a plate, the only thing I saw that would work for this thread. I have alot of the Tastefully Simple mixes and will use some of them. We are frying a turkey and smoking a ham also putting a pork loin on the rotisserie.

| My mom made a great appetizer for Thanksgiving. She used a round glass serving platter. First was a layer of cream cheese, then a shrimp sauce. She chopped of shrimp and put that on top. You eat is with crackers. That was really good. |

| [QUOTE=windsor'smom]Mississippi Sin...... is that an oil and herb dip for bread? Carol [QUOTE] No... although I do have a good recipe for that (tastes just like Carrabba's!). It's a hot baked cheese dip recipe- made with cheeses, sour cream, ham, and peppers, along with seasonings. It's sooo freakin good!!! |

Here's the Mississippi Sin recipe: 2 cups shredded mild Cheddar cheese 8 ounces cream cheese, softened 1 1/2 cups sour cream 1/2 cup cooked diced ham 1/4 to 1/3 cup chopped mild green chiles finely chopped jalapeno peppers, to taste, optional 1/3 cup chopped green onions 1/8 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 1 (1-lb) round loaf crusty bread In a medium bowl, combine Cheddar and cream cheese, sour cream, ham, chile peppers, chopped green onions, and Worcester sauce. Mix to blend well. Set dip aside. Cut a thin slice from top of bread loaf; set slice aside. Using a gentle sawing motion, carefully cut vertically to, but not through, bottom of the loaf, 1/2 inch from the edge. Lift out center of loaf; cut into 1-inch cubes, and set aside. Fill hollowed bread loaf with the dip; cover with reserved top slice of bread loaf. Wrap the filled loaf well in foil. Bake at 350° for 1 hour. Serve with reserved bread cubes, crackers, or potato chips. Makes about 4 cups of dip. I do mine in a mini-crock pot. It's easier, then I just cube the bread. Just in case you meant the Carrabba herb mix recipe: 1 tsp. crushed red pepper 1 tsp. ground black pepper 1 tsp. dried oregano 1 tsp. dried rosemary 1 tsp. dried basil 1 tsp. parsley flakes 1 tsp. granulated garlic 1 tsp. minced garlic 1 tsp. kosher salt 1/4 - 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil I use to work at Carrabba's and it's right on! | |

| My faves are: Spinach dip in a hollowed out pumpernickel loaf or Double Cream Brie cheese baked with almonds and some cranberry sauce or red pepper jelly on the side. Pair that with a nice buttery Chardonnay and I'm in heaven. |

| An easy, yet elegant appetizer is my version of the ensalata caprese as I added the reduced balsamic vinegar with bruschetta bread on the side. Festive looking, barely any cooking (just simmering the balsamic vinegar until reduced and thick) required and ohhhh so yummy! I love entertaining |

| Jalapeno Poppers. YUM! Beware though, that there's no way of telling how hot the peppers will be until you eat them We make these every few months, and the peppers have ranged from bland to OMG You just wash and cut the peppers (12) lengthwise. Set them on paper towels upside down to dry. Take 8 oz cream cheese, softened, and add a 1/2 tsp. of garlic powder and some salt and pepper to taste. Fill the peppers with the cream cheese. Take a lb of bacon and cut in half. Wrap each pepper half with the bacon, so that the ends are underneath. I bake them at 350 for about 45 minutes, on a rack in a pan. You can adjust the time/temperature to suit whatever else you're cooking and if you go nuts and make too many, they freeze beautifully
