But if you really do feel that way, think about how you'll look if you smoke for a long time. Your teeth will turn yellow, eventually you won't be able to breathe well - it will feel like you're breathing through a straw. Your lungs will turn black. You could loose up to 10 years of your life. Think about those things, Gina. Would you rather have a few extra pounds, or the long-term, permanent, affects of smoking?

i agree black lungs ,hacking cough, and ashtray breath is way more of a put off than a few extra pounds will EVER be!

), cheeses, pasta, take out the list can go on....and on weekends always, always breakfast...I was the type of person before I met him who never ate breakfast and always had salad or turkey sandwiches for dinner....I never ate the way I do now and boy is it showing...I have a whole closet of clothes I can't fit into...

| I smoke and everyday i smoke , i hate it, but its very addicting, you are doing great just by stopping ..... just relax and take one day at a time .. i know its easier said then done, and just try to eat healthy things when you eat, and try to walk, yoga, workout, whatever is best for you , But take my word on it, i admire you for stopping .... i just lost my father a few months ago from Lung cancer, he was a smoker, everyday i smoke a cig, i feel guilty, i wish you the best ...... Truly .... i know its frustrating to see you have gained weight ..... but thats better then alot of things that could happen to you ...keep your head up ...... be strong ...

| Please Gina, don't smoke again. I remember telling you on 4WT that you are just absolutely stunning. I've heard that right after you quit you gain a few pounds, but then it comes off. Take Lexi for more walks if it bothers you, but don't light up. You are way too beautiful in my opinion to start again. I wish I could stop completely and you give me inspiration!!

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Comon girl - I gained weight and SMOKE ! It happens - try to eat big salads before you eat a fattening meal and lots of water ...I want to quit but just don't have it in me right now - I already stopped going out like I used to (partying) and NEVER eat out anymore unless with friends but that's hardly ever cause I feel too guilty leaving my husband all the time -- so this is one vice I'm keeping for now lol even with my husband dying from smoking I still do - I always do it outside though - there's no smoking in my house ever. |

| My dad had 2 heartattacks in one day as a result of smoking for like 30 years. When he quit, for the first 4-6 months, all he did was moan about gaining weight, but once he started eating better he lost it all and then some. He looks great now. You (well not you but in general) gain weight because you want something in your mouth, so you generally eat more, which is why the weight gain comes. Cigarrettes are an appetite suppressant, so when you get off you're more hungry. Just control your portions and maybe get your boyfriend to power walk with you around the neighborhood a few times a week. Smoking will not solve the problem because if you're this worried about how you look now, wait till you get yellow teeth and gross skin from smoking. Just eat better and excercise and have patients. It won't happen overnight but if you work really hard it will happen for you honey Just Pray for God to give you more strength and control

| I can't believe what you just posted...this may sound a little harsh but its the truth and i'm saying this cause I don't want you to smoke anymoreThink about it..what would you rather have? A few extra pounds that you can lose with a little exercise OR black lungs, trouble breathing, yellow teeth, wrinkley skin, smell like cigerette, and worst of them all CANCER! I know its tough but try to think about your health before your image(not that you look bad I think you look great). One day all that will matter to you is how healthy you are. I can't stop you if you wanna ruin yourself with that crap go ahead but before you do(which I REALLY hope you don't) just PLEASE think about what we've all said.I don't even care if your mad at me I said this all for you cause I cared and I meant every last word. |

| Hey, Don't frett!!! I know how it is I am short and if I put on 5 pounds I have a stroke. Five pounds on short people looks like twenty on the blessed tall people. try to eat healthier. Drink lots of water and don't give up. I do hope you won't start back smoking. I smoke and have tried every thing to quit. I am so bad I have that last cig and start having a panick attack. Good luck.

| My furkids Donating Member | My daughter was just on the patch. She was getting pain where the patch was and down her arm....one of her customers told her about this book (can't think of the name of it). The woman told my daughter that she smoked the entire time she read the book...when she was done reading the book she threw her cigarettes away and never picked one up again...and she didn't gain weight...she LOST weight...I had quit smoking, cold turkey, for 7 years..I went through a divorce and started up again...I felt so good when I didn't smoke...I want to quit again..and, like everyone else I don't want to gain weight either...right now probably isn't the greatest time...I have been out of work since May and can't find a job...I am going to borrow this book from my daughter and quit that way...hopefully I will lose and not gain either. If anyone is interested in this book let me know ...I will find out what the title is and post it here...

| Oh Please don't give uip. You already have the weight so no use going back to smoking now. When i quit, I sucked on Lemon Drops. I chose Lemon Drops because I knew I would not eat too many or my mouth would get sore. That was back before they had so many sugar free hard candies. I'd keep plenty of those on hand. |

When I quit cold turkey 23 years ago, I never told myself that I couldn't have another one. I carried a pack in my purse and had a full carton on top of my refrigerator. I took it one hour at a time. I'd tell myself to wait one hour, and by then I'd be busy, then when I got the craving I'd make myself wait one hour. that is what got me through. Because, like you, when I thought of never having another cigarette I'd panic. After the first day it gets easier because you know you can do it, and you become more determined. so make sure you have plenty of things lined up to keep you busy for the first day. I also crocheted, it's hard to smoke while crocheting
