| ![]() Thanks. We spent all day yesterday at a dealership and the owner is coming here tomorrow to go over some more info with us. We're in the research and learning stage so I'm not sure when our actual 'departure' time will be. I love our house here but there are no emotional attachments...it's just a great place to live! We know a long time RV service technician and we plan to talk with him to see what coaches he would recommend or what he would personally drive. I figured he would be a great resource since he works on them everyday. I'd leave today if everything was in place...I love to travel and it's getting cold here so the Keys are calling! |

| ![]() Yes we do need somewhere to go in the summer, And thats just what my hubby and me and our two furbabies are gonna do. We moved to texas from california 3 months ago, sold our home there and bought a 38 ft motorhome and traveled for 8 months and had a great time, met so many nice people and saw so many beautiful places. Then we decided Texas was for us. So we bought a new home in Magnolia and will spend every summer traveling the U.S. with our furbabies. Gotta go to the cooler parts for the summer. Good Luck and ENJOY !!!! IT can be fabulous!!!!!! |

| ![]() Another thing I forgot to mention. Carefull about the size you are getting. Most parks throughout the U.S. cannot accomodate a 40 foot motorhome. Its limits where you can stay, We have had to park in some rather tiny spots in parks and made it very difficult to manuver around. Just a heads up is all!!!!! |

| ![]() Yes, we've wondered about the length. The 40 footers are nice but I don't want to have a hard time finding a place to park. I think there are limits on the length to go into the Keys. I guess I need to buy some books to read too... |

| ![]() Thanks...any little bit helps! We're retired...for 7 years now...but we're still (fairly) young, 44 and 57. I want to see the parts of the U.S. that I haven't seen yet. We traveled when I was a kid and camped in a tent all over the country and I loved it but since my back isn't getting any younger I think a real bed in a motor home might suit me better! |

| ![]() We are not fulltimers - but we travel most of the summer - to get out of the Texas heat. My husband had to retire due to health issues - but I still work. I'm a teacher though, and get off for the summer, and Christmas, and spring break....... ![]() We have a 30 foot 5th wheel and it is fine for the two-three summer months - but I would want something bigger for fulltiming. Unfortunately, we probably will never be able to be fulltimers - my husband's health will preclude that by the time I am able to retire. That's OK though, because we are trying to make the most of the time he has left. We just love loading our 2 boyz up in the pickup and heading out for an adventure. You won't regret it - I am sure!!! I do enjoy coming home, but it is always so much fun to head out! We travel with 2 metal X-pens that we can set up together so that the boyz have a place they can run off leash and play. I think they do get tired of being on the leash all the time. They are still young 1 1/2 years and 9 months old - and they have free roam of our backyard - so I think they do miss being free of the leash when we travel. I love my job and I'm not ready by any stretch to retire, but I do envy those who are retired and can take off any time for as long as they want! Enjoy!

| ![]() I'm sorry to hear your husband isn't well but it's great that you have something like this to share...that's where the memories are, good ol' fashioned family fun! We have been considering several options and I think for now we'll keep our cabin and buy a motorhome to go in when we want. My husband wants a home base so that's what we'll do...and, I don't mind...I really like our cabin! I do want to go where it's warm for the winter though and I'd love to travel the Western states and the East coast...oh, and the Northern Woods and Montana, I love Montana! Oooh, and the Grand Canyon, Lake of the Ozarks, Tennessee...(I think I was supposed to be born in Tennessee but no one told my parents!)...can you tell I just love to travel? Quote:

| ![]() we just bought a "dog house" last year. we are fairly new to rv-ing. so far so good. My husband would love to live in it. he says one day we will do just that. but ... we will have a bigger one before I am willing to. I like space. we bought a used one. ours doesn't have any slide outs and that is what we need. I will say the times we have had it out, we have met some really nice people. Oh and have any of you seen the movie RV with Robin Williams? so so funny!

I'm sure that, even if we were able to fulltime - that we would want a home base, so I think you are very wise to keep the cabin - now if only I HAD A CABIN!!! That sounds wonderful! I wish we lived outside of the city in a cabin - but the commute would be too horrible!!! It is so much fun to hear you get ready to start RVing!!! ![]()
