Does anyone RV full time? We've been thinking about buying an RV but not sure we're ready for the full time lifestyle yet. Does anyone on YT RV full time or even part of the year? Any info would be helpful. |
Not full time but any chance we get. I am retired but my husband is not but we do enjoy traveling in our fifth wheel. Good luck to you.:) |

i would luv to. my fiance' and i talk about it all the time. i would enjoy seeing our beautiful country with my yorkie. definitely in the future 4 us. |
We have a motorhome that we bought a few years ago. We used it rather infrequently since we were both employed. It was nice when we traveled though...no wondering who slept in the bed before us, etc. We ended up living in it for a year while our house was being built in FL. We stayed in a very nice campground and things worked out really well. We had no real problems living in it space wize, etc. Even though it was perfectly fine in there for a year, I found I am the kind of person that needs a place to call "home". I need space, nik naks, pictures on the walls, etc. I've met people who are full timers and love it. I just found that I couldn't do it myself. I think what you should do is travel some and spend time in an rv before you decide to give everything up. See how you feel after a while not having a place to go back to. I have also heard a couple of stories where people sold everything they had, bought a motorhome and then decided they weren't happy. So, you should give it lots of thought and a test drive before making a final decision. Hope this helps. |
We are full timers, it has it's pros and cons. For the most part it is OK and it takes away all the responsibilties of home ownership. That is a plus in my book. You meet the nicest people . That is how I met gypsyqueen on here. I CRIED LIKE A BABY WHEN SHE LEFT HERE. The down side is I miss all my belongings. We don't travel around like a regular fulltimer my DH hasn't retired yet. We are moving to a new place on Sunday It will cut out 2 1/2 hours a day driving for him. One word of advice , buy big the first time! Ours is a 2006 Openroad (36ft,5th wheel)with three sides. Thank you for the replies. We're new at this so any information will be helpful! We're looking at the 2007 Alfa See-Ya or See-Ya Gold models, at least 40 feet, super slide plus 3 other slides, diesel pusher. We would pull my car behind that and probably have scooters or a golf cart too. The boyz would have plenty of room to run and it's a beauttiful RV. We would go full time for a while and travel a bit. Not sure if we would keep the cabin here or buy a home by our son and daughter where we could stay when we wanted too. Do you have any good websites for RVer's? |
That looks like a nice RV. I think being stationed in a park is different...you don't have to batton down the hatches everytime you want to go somewhere! I absolutely love to travel and I think I would enjoy it but we would eventually have a land based home too. Quote:

Sounds like a good plan to me. If you are not attached to the home you now have and are willing to relocate if you get tired of it, I too think you should go for it. The only problems I have heard of is from people who financially have to sell their home to purchase the rv and then when they decide they want to settle down, cannot afford to purchase the home they want. I wouldn't want to give up my home because I do want to have a place to come home and I was born in this town, raised my children here, have grandchildren here & all my friends are here. Also I am the type that always wants an escape clause. But I do love traveling and would like to take some extended trips. We did have to live in ours for about a month after Hurricane Rita and I have to agree with whoever said to go big the first time. My husband and I, my dd and sil and 2 grandchildren, a cat and a dog are just too much for our fifth wheel. If we were to make very many long trips I would have to upsize. I would love to hear your experiences when you start doing this. Good luck:) |
