| ![]() Hmmm...maybe I should watch this show to see what I might be in for! Actually, we did have a motorhome when I was little...a Winnebego Brave. I know, not much now but at the time it was pretty cool! They sure have come a loooong way. We took a couple trips in the Brave and Daddy traded it off for a camper so you couldn't hear all the rattles! I remember stuffing things everywhere so stop the rattles. I was a kid though so it was fun but as an adult now it would probably make me crazy! Quote:

| ![]() My husband and I have been researching rvs for a while now. We have 4 kids and the 2 dogs and need something spacious. We found going to rv shows very helpful. We were able to go inside all the different models and see all the differences between them. I think you should definitely check out one of the shows, the one we went to also held small seminars on what to expect and what to look for etc.., we found the seminars extremely informative. We still have yet to purchase one as we are torn between a 5th wheel and a class c. I love the 5th wheels but with 4 kids we would need to consider what type of vehicle to tow it with that would accomodate all 6 of us. Good luck in your search!! |

| ![]() ssguzzy...what part of Illinois are you in?? We have gone to a few shows and they're fun but they can also be overwhelming and high pressure salespeople are plentiful! I do enjoy going through the different models but if you don't keep notes you forget which ones you liked and you have to start all over again. ![]() ![]() |

I am in bridgeview about 15 minutes from midway airport! Where are you located? We have been to about 3 shows and we always bring a notebook and a camera to take notes and pics. As for the salesmen we always say upfront we are not buying today as we are doing our research first and have no intention of buying till we are done. I am always firm with them and they are usually pretty good. I cant wait till we are able to get an rv we love to travel and with 4 kids it is just easier with an rv. | |

| ![]() We did the same thing. We looked and researched and went to shows also. We decided on a Winnebego after all that. I guess we liked the motor, the reputation and the fiberglass roof was a plus for us. We have a 33 foot with two slides. There is ample space for the two of us and our dog Hank. As I said previously, we lived in it for a year and had no problems with storage or space. We haven't used it since we moved into our house but hope to eventually. We were considering sellling it but who knows what the future brings. After reading this, I think we should start planning some trips!!!!! |

If you get a fifth wheel - you definitely need a one-ton pickup to pull it - because you will need a big fifth wheel and you will have lots of "stuff" in it and so the weight will be heavier. In the one-ton pickups, you need a super cab or double cab - one that has four full doors and a full front and full back seat. We have one of those and for the two of us and the two dogs it is more than enough room. But we do take our daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter with us sometimes and there is plenty of room for everyone - it sits 6 easily - but then someone has to hold the dogs - but someone has to hold the dogs, even when it is just the two of us ![]() ![]() I think that if you can afford it though, I would go with the motorhome with that many people traveling. However, you won't ALWAYS have that many kiddos at home - so if you are thinking about the future, then maybe the 5th wheel will be OK! Good luck with your search.
