| The Flu I just wanted to make sure everyone has their flu shots for them and their family. I got the flu friday and am pretty much better now but now both my girls have it...and let me tell ya...it sucks. They are both under 3 and they are throwing up everywhere, have severe diarhea like pure water, and will not eat or drink anything. Get your shots asap

| Does anyone know how long after you get the shot you are protected? My husband has congestive heart failure complete with pacemaker/defibrillator and he was supposed to get his flu shot before we leave for our cruise next week and he hasn't done it yet. Someone told me they thought it was too late to protect him on the cruise now. I was hoping some of our medical personnel could tell me if he should go ahead & get it before we leave now or wait until we get back? |

| I wouldn't advise everyone to get a flu shot, as some people actually are more prone to getting sick after getting the flu shot. Being sick is the worst, and you take being "normal" for granted until you are sick and slumped over with your head on the toiletseat.

I'm so sorry your babies are sick!! That is worse then you being sick....at least for me it is! Sending get well vibes your way!! It seems that where I'm at they aren't getting the shot anywhere till almost Thanksgiving! I got mine at my college on Friday though! They wouldn't let my daughter get one though since she's not a student, so I'm hoping to find one somewhere for her before Thanksgiving!

| wow that seems kinda late to get them...but i guess flu season hasnt hit fully yet so they arent in such a hurry...people are getting them all over here and all the docs offices have tons of them...they offer shots for free every friday at my kids' doc office for people that dont have insurance...we have it but he said we could get it for free cuz of our copay...things are ok here for the time being...we are talking again and trying to figure out a way things can work...the girls are sleeping finally and im hoping that they wont wake up in the middle of the night...this is kinda funny....i called the tell-a-nurse at their doc office and her solution for them to help them keep hydrated was to give them 3-4 teaspoons of watered down poweraid every 5 min for 8 hours...how rediculous is that...no person that runs a household can do that...i almost had to laugh in her face for that...but i did notice that the only time they throw up is when they drink alot at a time...well at least for rylee...my oldest...mckinzy has thrown up a few more times then rylee but thank god since shes smaller, her tummy is smaller too haha...i just hope they sleep through the night and no wake up pukes haha...thank you all for your kind words

| My doctor said it takes about 2 weeks before you are covered and should not get the flu. But I think it is for the respiratory type of virus. Good luck, just ask your medical people? |

| I'm so sorry your little ones are sick Hope they get to feeling better soon! Doortega: I would contact the doctor for advice on the flu shot. I wouldn't think it would be too late to get it but....his doctor can advise best Have a BLAST on your cruise!! Personally, I don't get the flu shot and I work in a hospital (not with direct patient care, though). It's not that I'm afraid of needles cause heaven knows when I'm sick, I want the shot!! It just seems to me that each year they administer the flu shot, it's a different strain that affects everyone....so, I just take my chances and so far *knocks on wood* I've been lucky.
