| I hope you are all feeling better today. Being sick totally sucks, but is even worse when you have other problems going on as well. I hope this new week brings peace and harmony to your family. Flu shots just starting being available in Michigan two weeks ago. I will be getting mine next week. Please keep in mind that you are not only giving yourself added protection, but you are protecting others you might come in contact with also.

| The flu shot is for influenza, not the stomach flu. Influenza is a terribly bad cold, cough, body aches, fever, etc. that lasts for a couple weeks and can have complications like pneumonia. That's why they recommend kids and elderly and people with asthma get it first. There is no shortage this year and they are offering them everywhere. It does NOT cause you to get sick - although I usually feel crappy the day after getting the shot and need to sleep it off. I always get it on a Friday so I can sleep the next day if I feel like it. You can still get the flu since they only put this year's most common strains in the vaccine - there might be a strain that you get that you were not vaccinated for. I get my shot every year and IF I get the flu I get it for a couple days when everyone else gets it for a week. I'm not a "medical person" I just get my shot every year so I've looked into it Oh and those afraid of needles can get "FluMist" so that's no excuse. More info
