| My uncle had a monkey when he was in college. He said that his mom would never come visit him and he couldn't have women over bc the monkey was so disgusting and threw his crap around everywhere. They are SUPER cute, but maybe just to look at. |

I LOVE that show and I love the monkey too. But if you continue to watch the show you will see that they were not able to keep the monkey because it required soooooo much attention and work and for some reason they couldnt have it in the same room with the dogs so all her dog were outside all the time which of course they didnt want to do that to the dogs. Plus monkeys are hard to potty train and so they can be sooooo messy and dirty. One of our local "exotic" pet stores sells a tiny little monkey and it potty's everywhere. It stays in a cage but it can climb up the sides and shoot its pee outside the cage. Its quite gross but the monkey itself is absolutely adorable.

| Did anyone catch the Primetime Live special last week about people who kept exotic pets? They talked about this guy who was obsessed with living among grizzly bears and he wound up getting mauled to death by one. In that same special there was a couple who adopted a baby chimp and raised him as their son. I don't know what happened but one day he got out of the house and went crazy in the neighborhood. The police had to come and the neighbors sued them. They were forced to send the chimp away to this place that cares for retired showbiz monkey actors. One day they went out to visit the chimp and the husband was attacked by the other chimps that were in the cage with their monkey. I think they tried to tear his face off. Experts said that chimpanzees, although cute and small when they are babies, become increasingly powerful and violent as they mature and that people need to remember that these are not fuzzy, cute, little creatures but rather wild animals that should be in the wild. I absolutely LOVE monkeys but I think I'll stick with yorkies.

| I've read that they do not make good pets. Besides the comments from the other posts...once they start reaching "puberty" they are very hard to control, big or small. I've always wanted one too, but decided it was not a good idea.

| I wanted a monkey before too, and unlike your bf, mine didn't mind if we got one. I googled pet monkey, and changed my mind after one site! All these stories of monkeys attacking their owners. Very scary. Remember, these are wild animals and will always be wild animals. There not meant to be pets, and even though the monkey can be the sweetest, it will still have those instincts. Please research this before you decide. I was heartbroken, but I'm glad I found that out before I saved up for one.
