| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | POOR Thing !!! I may have a solution for you.....I hit the big M at 41 but never had the hot flashes. I do have really REALLY messed up hormones - and tried Bio Identical Hormone treatment - but had to stop due to the expense. What I Believe I have is Estrogen Dominance....and am really trying to fix my own self now .... With no insurance -and a sick husband - I just can't go to the doctor - but would if I could - it really affects our whole body and just gets worse in time. A GOOD Friend of mine told me about this Cream for Hot Flashes and is available at some health food stores or online. I just bought it 5 days ago so it's still too soon to see if it's going to help me - but she SWEARS it stopped her really bad hot flashes. I'm hoping it will help me with how tired and dragged out I am. I can ask her to talk to you for more information - She said it's the only thing that ever worked for her - its called - Pro-Gest...It's susposed to be the closest thing to BioIdentical Progesterone....even better -this comes from a Woman based company... http://www.emerita.com/ but I ordered HERE ($24.00 vs $39 at Emerita) it arrived in 3 days: http://www.vitacost.com/productResul...x?N=32+2007974

| Ahhh, welcome to the world of HOT flashes, nite sweats, chills, and no sleep and all the rest of the fun stuff. I won't take hrt's, either. But I figure just being able to go somewhere and not have to be "armed with pads, tampons, and all that crap" and not even think about it, is worth the other. I had horrendous periods for the last few years, so I am ecstatic that they are gone. One bit of advice, any caffeine will bring them on. So de-caf coffee, caffeine-free soda, and even tho chocolate always makes us feel better, it does have caffeine in it. Good Luck. It will be worth it when it's over, so they tell me. |

| Stay away from caffiene, and hot/spicy foods. Try some soy and drink lots of water. Get some exercise too! A friend of mine swears by Estroven, but so far I have decided to let nature do it's thing.

I do drink a lof of caffinated drinks so maybe I will cut back on them. Do tey ever stop? I have had them for almost 3 years.

| For many women, they do get better with time, but that's a long time. I'm 8 years post menopausal and I only have an occasional hot flash. I still keep a fan on the floor by my desk so that when one occurs, I just turn on the fan for a few mins and that really helps. Also, I dress lightly - NO TURTLENECKS - even in winter, and I put a jacket on and off as needed. I find that when I have a flash and sweat, then afterward, I am cold sometimes, especially in a restaurant with max air conditioning. I also keep sugar free/low calorie popcicles in the freezer and when I feel a flash coming on, I'll eat a popcicle and it really helps. Someone once told me that the best way to warm or cool the body is from the inside out - so if you are cold, drink something hot, if you are hot, eat/drink something cold. It works for me.
