I have them as well, but mine are caused from Anxiety attacks, aka panic attacks. are you going through the change? are you drinking enough water? |
I get them also...sometimes more than others...I have heard that blackcohosh (sp?) helps and soy will help( I haven't tired this yet) also...I won't use any hormones...Don't like what you can end up with.. |

Soy! In any form. Tofu, soy sauce, chocolate covered soy beans, etc etc. You will notice a difference right away with night sweats and hot flashes. |

Vitamin E helps with hot flashes. Mine got bad enough that I wasn't sleeping very good and the doctor put me on Prempro. I haven't had anymore trouble since then. |
I hear you sister! I am 53 and periods are very few and far between now, but the "flashes" are plentiful. We call them "Power surges" at my house. Even my 5 year old grand daughter will see me fanning and say,"nana, you having another hot flash?" I went to the dr. and they wanted to put me on hormone replacement therepy, but I said, no dice. I will deal with the heat. WHen available I will run to the freezer and stick my head in for a bit. The best to place to be when one hits is the freezer compartment at Costco! I have tried all the herbs and still "flash", but vitamin E seems to work best for me. Good luck and if you find something that helps, please pass it on. Debbie |
devoted to Lucy! I had a complete hysterectomy @ 35 and started having hot flashes in the hospital! After 6 months of AGONY I began the hormone replacement therapy ( I was crying one minute and ready to kill the hubby and kids the next) and I haven't looked back. I still have flashes, but not as bad. The best thing I've ever done is to buy one of those gel packs you put in the freezer. When it gets really bad you put it under your armpit and it cools you off faster than anything else I tried. Kim & Lucy |
I like the idea of the freezer packs - haven't thought of that one!! There is a yoga breath that is cooling, too. Open your lips to an "O" and put the tip of your tongue at the back of your upper teeth. Then breath in and out through your mouth slowly. This is a cooling breath and as dumb as it sounds, it will help to cool you down. I am about to turn 45 but have been per-menopausal for about 5 years. I use Phytoprolief (a natural, bio-identical, plant-based progesterone/estrogen) by Arbonne. I swear by it!!! Don't have hot flashes during the day yet, but it has helped with the night sweats. |
