| Sounds like your brother is gonna get screwed ...Sorry ....But alot of states are as bad as flo .Hope it works out for him at any rate they can only get so much according to how much he makes and in the start of a divorce its always out for blood ..his attorney should make a solid counter offer .I feel for you /divorces are no fun ~

| I just saw this. I am no legal expert but my uncle got divorced 2 years ago in Florida and he got screwed up the you know what. The slut filed for divorce after leaving him for another man. My uncle is a corporate executive and he traveled alot in his job. She took advantage of this and had an affair. Anyway, after she filed she asked for everything, the house, the car, their daughter and the b*tch even wanted half his pension!! In the end, my uncle settled for leaving her the house, car and daughter if she gave up going after his pension. I think my uncle even wound up paying her attorney fees. He has visitation with their daughter and he is much happier now. But when the whole thing was going on, he would come to NY to spend time with us and he was miserable. Just like your brother he lost weight, couldn't sleep and became very depressed. Please give your brother all the love and support he needs right now because he going through a really hard time. I wish him the best of luck and hope everything turns out ok for him.

| My furkids Donating Member | Gina, I feel so bad for what your brother is going through..Although I don't know what the Florida laws are on divorce I do know that he needs to get tough...I got divorced 9 years ago and am now married to a wonderful man...I had just turned 40 yrs old so my girls were older. One out of HS and the other graduated a few years later...This was a decision that I had made several years before I finally did it...It wasn't because of a man. My X was an abusive alcoholic, more verbal than physical...But, it was still the hardest thing I had ever had to go through in my life. I can only say from experience that your brother can't back down from her...He is hurt and she is going to say things to him that will tear his heart out..I'm sure he is on an emotional rollercoster..Having children makes it that much more difficult. She is going to tell him things that probably aren't even true..I have to agree with some of the posts...her lawyer probably told her to go for EVERYTHING. This doesn't sound like it is going to be an easy divorce...not that any of them are. I learned things from my divorce....never settle! I did and got screwed....(long story!) I'm sure your brother knows he is responsible for his children...I feel he needs a good lawyer so she doesn't take him to the cleaners...I pray you brother gets through this hard time..He is very lucky to have you as his sister and friend...My family turned against me at that time in my life when I needed them them most..(all is good now)being the person that I am.

She works for the courts so she knows how to play the game. Rule number 1 ask for everything. He can go in and ask her for all the same stuff. Judges are usually fair and reasonable. Who has the better job? My son went through a nasty one and he allowed her to mop the floor with him. And he is still payhing. You cannot be a whimp. You have to fight just as dirty as they are. Best advice I can give for right now is cancel all credit cards and bank accounts. My dumb ass son kept putting money in and she kept over drawing it. So guess who got stuck paying off all the over drafts. | |
