| I don't mind when people ooh and aah over her. I didn't like it much when she was a baby because I was trying to potty train her & there were always a ton of people distracting her, but I don't mind it anymore. But I don't like it when kids automatically try to pick her up. I usually tell them "oh, don't pick her up" and reach over & take her away from them...I don't want them trying to put her back down. With Sadie, that part is dangerous because she's such a wiggler.

| The only thing that bothers me is when strangers don't ASK about petting Brandy or picking her up. Brandy barks around new people so she kind of "goes nuts" in my arms barking and scratching wanting the attention from new people. I understand that she my little a little vicious from the barking, but she just wants to be petted by them. One lady at the park reached over to pet her while she was on my lap barking at her and then she said that Brandy bit her! I told her that I'm sure she just scratched her, because it was time to trim her nails. Sorry, I KNOW MY DOG, and she doesn't bite! The lady had a freaked out look on her face as if she expected me to apologize. I was right there and I know she didn't bite her. But in my opinion she also shouldn't have tried to pet her without asking. You don't touch me without asking, you don't touch people's kids, you don't touch people's cars, so I don't see what the difference is. I think I'm seriously going to tell strangers NOT to touch her when they try to from now on. What if the lady made a bigger deal about Brandy scratching her SAYING it was a bite? Or if it was a kid? I don't want to be held liable for that. Worst of all, I don't want someone who doesn' t know about dogs reacting to Brandy being excited and her getting hurt. So I understand exactly what you mean. Just because we're out walking our yorkies doesn't mean that we're the ambassador of the yorkies. If we're busy or in a hurry doesn't mean we should be obligated to stop for everyone. It's not exactly a petting zoo. Sorry if I come off as rude, but that lady in the park kind of changed my opinion on it. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Vent away!!! In past times, I've told people, "I really don't like people touching my dog." Then there is the, "My dogs have been known to bite people." And my favorite is, "Don't touch them! They got some weird sickness and I don't want them to pass it on to you."

| I don't mind people gushing over my 2. They are cute. But what I don't like is when other people are walking their dogs and they stop to chat and their dogs are all over my dogs! They slobber on them, lick them, ect. Who knows what kind of diseases these dogs have! Then you have the kids....there are 2 kids that live in our apt complex that ALWAY ALWAYS try to pick them up and carry them around. I have to tell them like 5 or 6 times to please put them down! These kids are 6 and 4! I have to pass these kids everytime I walk to my mailbox. I can't even take the dogs to the mailbox anymore bc of the kids and other people's dogs! I just don't want my babies to get sick or dropped |

| I confess I'm lying to people coming up, especially kids by telling them that Mitzi bites. She doesn't but she also doesn't like to be pet by strangers. I'm German so if you need some words just let me know. Maybe you should wear a sign that says: Achtung! Beissende Hunde! Which means: Yield! Biting dogs! |

| I see what Kathryn_V is saying but I should not HAVE to put my dogs in a stroller when I take them for walks. The walk is from them not me. Well a little for me, it makes them less crazy at night and makes them sleep better. I am not saying a stroller is a bad thing or anything but I should not have to hold them or put them in something so people wont touch them. I should not have to do that, ya know You can take your dog almost every where you go here, so you would think they would just say aww cute baby and be on there way or something!!! |

Same issues on our end. But most of the time I don't mind either if they just pet and if they are kind enough to ask first. I don't care for it if I'm out shopping and in a hurry and get stopped by a million people but don't mind if we're leisurely strolling. They are indeed show stoppers. I have problems with kids. We had a boy follow us at the mall and kept poking at our girl while she was trying to catch a nap. That was really annoying and hubby said please don't poke her, she's tired and trying to get some sleep. We have a neighborhood kid that is like the devil...I run when I see her while we're walking our girl. She grabs, pulls, yanks, and basically slaps our dogs and that bothers the heck out of me. It scares the heck out of Zoe and it's kids like her that scares/scars our girl. I either pick her up and say no firmly, or say please don't or run/walk the other way REAL fast each time I see her. Then there is another neighborhood kid that is so sweet and gentle that I don't mind petting our dog. Like many responses above, I usually am firm and say are you ready to go to our dog and walk away or say we're in a bit of a rush. I've even ignored people at the mall when I am in a rush but they continue to holler acoss the mall but I keep walking. Same annoying questions, is she a teacup, and what gets me is complete strangers asking me how much I paid for her. I kindly reply a lot.

| This reminds me of what happened to me last summer.... I had these neighbors. They did not like dogs & were probably like the others that are scared of them. Well, every day when I was walking Sadie, this older woman & little girl (she had just learned to walk because she was wobbly, so that's her age) were outside. The little girl would always follow us. She never wanted to get close enough to touch Sadie, she was just curious about her. So when I would see them, I would turn around & go the other way. Then THEY would turn around and follow me! I would get so mad. I would make it very obvious that I was trying to get away from them. And I walk faster than them, so I could get pretty far ahead, but there are times when Sadie needs to stop & sniff & go...that is the point of us being out there, after all. S

So then they'd catch up with us. I would go way out of my way to avoid them. I finally told the woman to quit following me. Because as long as they were around, Sadie wouldn't do her business! She's very easily distracted. So I told the woman to stop following us. I dont know if she even understood...I don't think she speaks English. I decided right then that if they followed me again I was going to go to the apt. office & complain about them. I realize that it was an old woman and a little kid, but it still felt like harassment or stalking! I couldn't go anywhere without being followed. I never saw them again. I think they moved....I was so happy.

| I don't like it when people just come up and start petting Rocky, I feel that is very rude. Plus Rocky sometimes gets a intimidated and scared. I tell my 5yr old step-daughter that you never go up to a dog that you don't know because you just never know what the dog will do. Also if we are at Petsmart or the dog park, I make sure she asks to dog's owner if it is okay to pet their dog. Most people say it is okay and thank me for making her ask first. I just wish everyone would do that. |
