Ha Ha...I like this excuse except it's the truth, she gets tinkle excitement.
Same issues on our end. But most of the time I don't mind either if they just pet and if they are kind enough to ask first. I don't care for it if I'm out shopping and in a hurry and get stopped by a million people but don't mind if we're leisurely strolling. They are indeed show stoppers. I have problems with kids. We had a boy follow us at the mall and kept poking at our girl while she was trying to catch a nap. That was really annoying and hubby said please don't poke her, she's tired and trying to get some sleep.
We have a neighborhood kid that is like the devil...I run when I see her while we're walking our girl. She grabs, pulls, yanks, and basically slaps our dogs and that bothers the heck out of me. It scares the heck out of Zoe and it's kids like her that scares/scars our girl. I either pick her up and say no firmly, or say please don't or run/walk the other way REAL fast each time I see her. Then there is another neighborhood kid that is so sweet and gentle that I don't mind petting our dog.
Like many responses above, I usually am firm and say are you ready to go to our dog and walk away or say we're in a bit of a rush. I've even ignored people at the mall when I am in a rush but they continue to holler acoss the mall but I keep walking. Same annoying questions, is she a teacup, and what gets me is complete strangers asking me how much I paid for her. I kindly reply a lot.
