| Anyone go to a chiropractor/ or you kids ?? I went to one today because of the pain Ive been having. Im still not 100% sure what she said as to why..lol..but the jist is just stress related, over the years things change, etc... but Im to start with 3 spinal adjustments a week for 3 weeks and see how that does. She felt limited range of motoion, and also some in my hip area. Im also very interested in hearing about any stories anyone has about kids and chiropractors. Ive heard some say that their kids were "better overall" after having the adjustments as well...VERY curious there!

| I couldn't live without one! My whole family uses one. Make sure that you have references for the one you are using. My kids are usually pretty healthy, don't know if it is because they go to a chiropractor or not.

| I have been going to a chiropractor since I was 6 weeks old. I went while I was pregnant and my daughter has been going since she was 4 weeks old! My daughter had an ear infection before I brought her in for the first time and since I have been bringing her she has yet to have another one (she will be one in a few days). She is an extreamly healthy kid!

| I started going when I was about fourteen. I had a terrible tail bone injury due to a pantsing(sp) gone wrong. Long story. Anyway, adjustments helped significantly. When I got older I started working for a chiropractor, not in his office though. He would always tell me I looked like I was out of allignment. He would say "come in to see me" I did not have insurance at the time so I never got to. It made me sad at the time because I definitely think chiropractors are beneficial.

| with all due respect to Claire (I was going to post this before she posted that about her daughter)... how natural and healthy could it be to crack a 5 year old's back? Manipulate their bones? Let's be really grounded and think about it. 5 year olds should not need to have their bodies messed with unless there is no other way. I mean, they're still developing! Also, my friend used to be a ballerina and she went to a chiropractor for years. She had to wean herself off of one just so she could walk correctly without further back/leg manipulation. here's what I read: http://www.chirobase.org/ http://www.quackwatch.org/01Quackery...chiroeval.html http://www.chirowatch.com/mp981201quinn-katz.html

| I started having 'back' problems quite a few years ago. I went to my GP, and tho I had a ton of tests, they couldn't find what was wrong with me. I tried a chiropractor, and of course, as many do, he told me that I needed to come back repeatedly for treatment...that he knew EXACTLY what was wrong with me and that he could fix it. Well, I went back to see him for weeks and weeks, about 3 times a week, and I continually got worse. It ended up that I left my last appt with him unable to move, and had to go to emerg. In the end I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. The long and short of it is....in MY opinion...unless you know exactly WHAT is causing your pain, I wouldn't go to one. You could end up with a permanent injury (like a dear friend of mine), or just end up wasting alot of money. I agree that they can do some good...again, depending on the cause of your pain...but use caution, as these adjustments can cause permanent injury if, for example, you have a bad, undetected herniation or other serious spinal issues. |

| My mother has always had a bad back and I remember as a kid she'd get stuck in a bent over position (sometimes for weeks) because it was too painful to straighten her back. She went to I don't know how many medical doctors and went through all kinds of tests to no avail. Usually they would prescribe muscle relaxers or pain pills which she didn't want to take. When she was probably about 40 she got stuck in the bent over position and went to a chiropractor for the first time. He had her fixed and feeling great after a couple of weeks of visits. Now when it it happens, she goes right away and is better after an adjustment or two. That said... My hubby had problems with his back and I suggested a chiropractor since I knew how much it helped my mom. Long story short he had degenerative disc disease from an old injury and the manipulation (he only went once and it left him in such pain he never went back) made it much worse. He ended up having a fusion surgery and with the right exercise program has been doing well for about 10 years now. I guess I'm saying that while it may be good for some things, it can be just as bad for other conditions. As in everything you would be wise to your research and weigh all your options carefully. Amy, have you ever tried yoga? It might do a lot of the same things such as stress relief and increased flexibility, and would probably be cheaper and certainly easier on your body. Good luck!

| Yoga is an excellent option. You will feel a lot better even after one class.

| I used to work for a very famous chiro and he fixed me up well and good! He would work on pressure points for digestion or stress or whatever and when he was done I was like a new person!!! Unfortunately, now I can't get in as often as I would like so I started seeing a new guy who does this deep tissue work that is out of this world called Active Release Method. I have never felt better. I am 150% for chiro, BUT you have to find a good one otherwise it's a waste. Also, if someone adjusts you while you are lying face down, I say no good and before cracking your neck, the chiro should really be loosening you up, working it out and warming you up before hand for a few minutes before cracking your neck. |

| I suffer from chronic neck pain and very bad headaches. I told my neurologist of my plans to go to a chiropractor for my neck, she begged me not to. She said she has seen too many cases of permanent damage to people and even small children from going to chiropractors, she recommended massage or acupuncture instead. |

| Miss mine I have terrible back troubles stemming from the severe abuse inflicted on me as a young child, my hips and spine are totally whacked.....I am as far from rich as a person could get and therefore couldn't afford constant care as they felt I should have, but I was able to afford once every 2 months or so....and just that little bit of work they did made such a big difference in my ability to move and do things...the relief from pain was amazing.I am now in the UK, since 2002, and have not seen one here.....and I can deffinately tell the difference from when I was going and now.I knew a young girl who was in a terrible accident....and she was about 10 or so....she was seeing a chiro for her lower back and said it was helping her...hope you enjoy your visits!
