I joined this smoking sensation research group and they gave 50% of the participants placebos and the other 50% a research drug that was originally prescribed to help ppl lose weight. They found that while giving this drug to ppl that were over weight, they'd stop smoking, so that was the study. I was one of the participants that got the real pill. I know because I reaveled the pill and saw that it was the real thing. Anyways, at the end of the study, who ever didn't quit smoking was given a 6 month supply of the patch for free. I am not a big drug taker, so I didn't take the study drug because I knew that they'd give me the patch at the end of a year. I used the patch and they really worked. Sure, I craved cigs but the worst thing that I experience while on the patch was not the urge for cigs. While the patch does help your cravings, it doesn't take away the edge. i was one snappy B@#$h!! You can do it. Take it one day at a time and it get's easy and make sure that you are wearing the correct medicated patch. Your cravings shouldn't be that bad when your using the correct prescribed patch. Good Luck!!!

| Gina, this WILL be the hardest thing you ever do! But, it will also be the BEST thing you can ever do for yourself and those around you. I quit smoking 16 years ago. I smoked 2 packs a day, easy. I did not get out of the bed in the morning before I had a cigarette. I quit cold turkey after my son asked me to stop smoking - he was a young kid at the time. It was so hard. I cheated twice in the first year and smoked one cigarette each time. The second time, I got sick as a dog and never smoked again. I won't tell you I don't crave them, because I do...even now sometimes I will catch myself thinking about smoking and I can't tell you how many times I have dreamed about smoking or smoking and getting caught! But the thing is, I now cannot stand the smell of them, except the smell when they are first lit up...that is the best! After that they stink. I have heard that nicotene addiction is worse than heroine or even crack...it is a very strong addiction, but it CAN be broken. You have to make up your mind that you are stronger than that addiction is. And believe me girl, you ARE stronger and you CAN do it. It just has to be something that you WANT MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE IN YOUR LIFE...until you get to that place, you won't be able to succeed. It has to be THAT important to you. I hope you will be able to do it, I know you can...I will be thinking about you going thru this. PM me if you ever need some support!!!

| Gawd lee, that was my only concern when I quit! I wanted to know will this feeling ever pass and after talking to several people that had quit, they still say that they crave cigs. OMG, I wondered...How in the hell will I be able to do this but you know what it can be done and like I stated before, every day gets easier. You can do it!! Good luck to you! |

That's ok I needed a friendly reminder.. maybe it will give me incentive to try again? I have three bottles of stop smoking pills sitting on my bathroom shelf and you would think I would pick it up or just be strong here like Lexi Rae and quit! I had planned on attempting to quit when I made my move To Washington, my friend told me ciggys are so pricy, and she had quit so I think moving away from here and leaving all my smoking friends and troubles behind may be the answer out with the old in with the new?? besides she says she is going to take my ciggys away fom me so maybe Im thinking about joining in with lexi Rae?? ummmm

| well I just found a reason to quit smoking forever......... Last night I found out my closet friend had just been diagnoised with 4th stage lung cancer, Im so in shock right now, and IM not sure how to handle this! I had lost my husband to cancer ( rare testicular) and Im afraid of having to go through this again, and I know I am thinking in a selfish way and I really don't know what to say to her, I spoke with her last night and I was no use to her because all I could do was cry. I was no help or support for her when she needs it so bad. after speaking with her.. I lost all desire to run for my crutch that ciggy that I now see in a whole different light! that has now possiby taken my friend away. I quit smoking that instant! when the call ended with her, It was a somber feeling and I feel that no craving will control me now because If i light up It will always remind me of my best friend that was like a sister, sorry Im babbling, so please if you are trying to guit please dont wait to do until you hear a heatbreaking reason why you should! |

| Oh honey I am so sorry! I am so sorry about your friend. You stated that you did not know what to do...it will come to you. You must take this one day at a time. Don't worry about tomorrow. Be with her now, support her now. Each day you have with her now is a blessing to you both. Share with her how what she is going thru has changed your life and how she has blessed your life. Nothing we can say here will touch your pain right now. Just know that you have made the right choice for all the right reasons...hang in there and if you need us, we are here for you!
