BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | What if it was you? Until you have been attacked by a dog, it's really hard for anyone to say if a dog should be put down or not. I'm not saying to ban the whole breed because some have attacked. They really need to get to the bottom of the line and find out why this breed is attacking, but it's not just pits that are doing this. I have a husky and I would never in a million years ever think she would ever hurt someone, she is so gentle and so loving, but after being attacked by my dobbie, I never say when someone ask me"ohh will she bite" I used to say.. ohh no way, she would never bite someone. My husky has NEVER bit anyone, but after being attacked, I wont ever say that again. Even with Kloey, when my kids get in her face to love on her, I tell them not to do that, because you just never no what a dog may do, they have bad days just like we do, so you have to take every percaution you can take. and the #1 rule my doctor told me who sewed me up is, NEVER LET A DOG SLEEP IN YOU OR YOUR KIDS BED, the reason being is... There is so much smell in a bed, you sleep in it for over 8 hours a night, the smell is so over powering to a dog that when someone comes in (like I did when I got attacked) and goes to pet the dog, the dog smells this smell that is so over powering to him that it can set them off. Noah (dobbie) was sleeping with my girls when he attacked me, he knew I was home, but when I came in that room to wake the kids up, I went to love on him and BAM! I'm so scared when a big dog comes near me I get very panicky, I will be the first one to admit I don't like pitt bulls, but I still don't think it's right what it happening to them. Someone can tell me there the sweetest loving dog and I still would never come near one. Because I know what a dog can do to you and until you have a dogs teeth pulling and tugging at you and you are over powered and cant get it off you, then you just have no idea. I'm not writing this because I want your sympothy, I'm writing this because I want you to be aware, protect your children, because thank god this was me and not one of my kids, he would have killed one of them! If you see your child getting in a dogs face, please, make them aware what could happen. Last edited by yougetthesmiles; 04-27-2006 at 05:25 AM. |

| When did this happen? Are you alright? What about the Dobbie? Are you keeping him? It would be hard for me, if he was mine, to find him another home, but I would be so afraid for my kids.

BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | this happened last April, NO, I did not keep him, and they would not put him down, the animal control took him away and held him for 5 days, on the 4th day they called me and said they were not putting a good dog down that just "nips" someone! That is why I have Kloey, she saved my life, you just can not imagine the nightmares I went through. So thats why I posted this, I dont want to see another person go through what I have went through, you just have to be aware! |

| When I was 8 I ran across someones Toy Poodle running down our street... She or he was black, needed to be groomed and was salivating and panting like mad... I thought she was hot and thirsty... it was summer in Palm Springs.... I leaned over to pet the dog and WHAM! She bit me square in the belly!!! She thrashed around a bit and broke free, taking a Piece of me with her as she ran away!!!! There I was 8, in my tube top, OP shorts, bleeding down my legs and sobbing and in shock! My mom had poodles for as long as I could remember! They never did that! hours later in the ER they are talking Rabies and how Animal control can't find the dog... I had to go through a major series of shots "just in case" Like being bitten was not enough! To this day I am terrified to approach other peoples dogs and when I see my daughter do it I get sick to my stomach! I think that along with the Drug prevention day in grade school they need to have a day where they teach animal safety!! But in Kindergarten!! and in first! and in second! lol Thank you for sharing those Pictures with us, That had to be hard for you! But if someone learns from or is swayed by them... then you have made a difference! if just one Child is Spared that experaince... Wow... Thank you!! I'll be sitting my 10 year old down just as soon as she gets home to have her read this thread! I hate hearing " oh Mooom..."

| Oh I completely agree.. I am scared SH**LESS of big dogs... If a dog is over like 35-40 lbs.. I stay away. I was once attached by a boxer.. it was my best friend's boxer.. knew me well, I was always at their house... it was just a random day.. I walked in the door, and bam!! he was on top of me.. after that I stay away from anything that I think could possibly hurt me. Last edited by admin; 04-27-2006 at 08:55 AM. |

No the husky just laid there and did nothing. The thread about the pitbull on banning the breed, I'm saying, it's just not pits that attack, it's ALL dogs! | |

| Gotcha!! I didn't realize it was a rollover from another thread... Any dog can bite, but there are some I'm more leary of. Pits are one of them! After what you went through it's a wonder you want to be around any breed!!! Especially a stranger's dog.

BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | I'm just very cautious of putting my face in there face. I do think it helps when you have a dog when it's a pup, then the dog has grown up with you and the family. My husky who I love dearly, we have had since she was a pup and I give her kisses, but I also watch her body language, and Kloey loves given kisses, but she has growled at my kids before so I wont let them put there face near hers, cause you just never no. |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Yes, all dogs have the capability, but I think there is a big difference between a bite and an attack. Most dogs who bite....bite their victim and stop. An attack is multiple biting over and over. Obviously the larger the dog....the worse the outcome of a bite may be...just because of the size or location of the wound, but they do not continue to bite you after that first chomp. Children get bitten in the face because they are either at the dog's eye level or bend down to the dog's face. I also believe some breeds are more prone to biting behavior and are not kid friendly. And if I listed them...I'd get...oh, molly was a _______ and she was wonderful, and I understand, however I would not chose one of the breeds I have in mind as a family pet. It does seem to me that if a pit bull "snaps"....it does, indeed, go into attack mode. Kill or be killed. The attacks I read about are not a pit bull bit someone....it's a pit bull attacked (and killed), attacked and had to be shot, or punched or whatever to get them to stop. They do not retreat. Want an example of an attack? My girlfriend owned a yorkie. Her backyard backed up to another neighbor's yard...who had...loving, family pit bulls. The two pits came over the fence to get to her yorkie. They did not stop when the baby was dead...they literally tore her apart into pieces. She watched the entire thing from her window and it was over before she could've done anything in a matter of minutes. She did not press any type of charges nor report the incident. She is far more forgiving than I would've been. The pit owners offered to pay for another yorkie....at the time they were selling here for about 700 bucks. They never did. You can research and find which breeds have the most reported BITING incidents....the difference is the dog doing the biting STOPPED after that bite It was not necessary for someone to physically stop the dog. PS Got chomped in the face by a chilhuahua as a child. I do not like chilhuahuas, but I don't cross the street if I see a stray one running around.

| Oh I'm so glad you are OK. You are right, you just never know, it's not just the large breeds that bite. The dog next door is a mix small breed, and if you go in their yard, that pup is going to get you. We have a customer who has a Dobbie. They came home form a dinner party to find him laying by the door choking, they took him straight to the hospital. The Vet said they were going to run some test's and keep him over night. When they got home, the phone was ringing it was the Vet. He told them the police were on there way, and to get out of the house. Not knowing what was going on, they did what they were told. The Dobbie had two fingers stuck in his throat The police went into their home and found a man passed out in their closet. Everyone was shocked, the man was there to rip them off, and he ended loosing two fingers. He really is a sweetheart, on this night the showed them just how strong he really is.
