I think something does need to be done, but not possibility taking all of the pitt bulls away. Making owners register dogs and pay fees for breeding them is a good idea. Forcing them to get vet care, shots, and wait until they are 8 weeks would be too. Most of the dogs here I see given away for free or put down in shelters are pitt bulls. So they are ALREADY dying. IMO It is much easier for a pitt bull to get into the hands of an irresponsible owner than any other dog. Maybe that is another reason why they have such a bad rep. If some type of law was made for ALL dogs to where they were only bred by responsible people, there wouldn't be so many poorly bred dogs, especially pitt bulls resulting in less altercations. I truly believe a lot of back yard breeders would stop breeding if they had to pay fees and get vet care for their pups. | |

| ![]() The animal control came and took him away and took him to the animal shelter to be held for 5 days, after the 4th day they called me and said he is such a sweetheart, we have him up at the front desk with us and we just love him! They wanted to know if we wanted him back (if we took him back we would of had to show proof of a special insurance we had to have and we would of had to have a fenced in yard) I was like, no way I don't want him back, and that is when she said they were not putting a good dog down that just nips someone, I about came unglued, but she did not show any signs of sympothy towards me, when I told my doctor who sewed me up what they said, he about jumped through the roof. And to top off the cake, I lost my job after it because I missed 7 days, even though I was on doctors care! So nothing is ever fair in life. And that is why I have Kloey! She saved me![/QUOTE] Technically if that dog was adopted out by them they could get sued because it already has a history of violence. I would be very upset if I went to a shelter and was unaware of the dog attacking someone and I brought it home to my child. |

| ![]() I think if they are going to make a law concerining dogs it should include ALL breeds. And this is ridiculous it's in their blood. Well it's in our yorkies blood to attack and kill rats but what would your yorkie do if she or he seen a rat..probably run. Any dog..human..animal period can snap.

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | ![]() I don't want to get into this too much, because I could litteraly write a book on this subject alone..but here's me $0.02: I think this is wrong. I've never owned a pitt bull (though I'll be honesst, I'd love to have one) and my lab has even been nearly killed by one. but saying that an entire breed should be destroyed because some attacks have happend just isn't right. If the yorkie breed was bigger, even they could kill someone. I've met some pitts that are nicer than some yorkies, honestly. These dogs are members of someone's family, they are someone's BABY. We all love our yorkies, they are our BABIES. go check out a pitt bull forum, those people are just as gah gah over their dogs as we are ours'. If someone came to my house and said, "we're taking away your dog." because of an attack that someone ELSE'S dog did, I would go insane. someone would be dead if a person tried to take away either of my dogs, and it wouldn't be me. I shudder to think of the future that this loving, beautiful breed holds because of a LAW. And another thing: some people pass a dog that looks like a pitt on the street and it turns out, it may not be a pitt bull at all. A lot of people confuse certain dogs for actual pitts. there was a quiz on here (I think StewiesMom posted) a while ago, seeing if you could identify which pictures were actually of pitt bulls. I didn't do very well...I don't think many people on here did very well. and pitts do wonderful things for people too. they can/have saved lives, be service dogs (etc) but the newspapers wouldn't make a headline, "PITT BULL SAVES OWNER IN FIRE!" because that wouldn't be "cool." I will say I'm truly sorry to everyone/anything who has suffered an attack from a dog. It's scary, I know! but people just can't try to destroy a whole breed/breeds because of a few. and I'll get off my soapbox now. sorry about the novel..... ALL OF THIS IS JUST MY OPINION. ![]()
