I don't want to get into this too much, because I could litteraly write a book on this subject alone..but here's me $0.02:
I think this is wrong. I've never owned a pitt bull (though I'll be honesst, I'd love to have one) and my lab has even been nearly killed by one. but saying that an entire breed should be destroyed because some attacks have happend just isn't right. If the yorkie breed was bigger, even they could kill someone. I've met some pitts that are nicer than some yorkies, honestly. These dogs are members of someone's family, they are someone's BABY. We all love our yorkies, they are our BABIES. go check out a pitt bull forum, those people are just as gah gah over their dogs as we are ours'. If someone came to my house and said, "we're taking away your dog." because of an attack that someone ELSE'S dog did, I would go insane. someone would be dead if a person tried to take away either of my dogs, and it wouldn't be me. I shudder to think of the future that this loving, beautiful breed holds because of a LAW. And another thing: some people pass a dog that looks like a pitt on the street and it turns out, it may not be a pitt bull at all. A lot of people confuse certain dogs for actual pitts. there was a quiz on here (I think StewiesMom posted) a while ago, seeing if you could identify which pictures were actually of pitt bulls. I didn't do very well...I don't think many people on here did very well. and pitts do wonderful things for people too. they can/have saved lives, be service dogs (etc) but the newspapers wouldn't make a headline, "PITT BULL SAVES OWNER IN FIRE!" because that wouldn't be "cool."
I will say I'm truly sorry to everyone/anything who has suffered an attack from a dog. It's scary, I know! but people just can't try to destroy a whole breed/breeds because of a few.
and I'll get off my soapbox now. sorry about the novel..... ALL OF THIS IS JUST MY OPINION.
