| I am happy to hear you didn't end up in jail this morning, I am afraid that is where I would be! Sounds to me like the principal and teacher need to go back to school and learn something about dealing with children! ON second thought it sounds like they are in the wrong profession. This type of punishment is in no way acceptable and has not taught a lesson in how to treat others! I would contact the school board and the news.....right after contacting an attorney. Maybe consider sending a certified letter to the school that in the future you will be contacted before any type of punishment is given out that their practices are unacceptable and very out of date. Let them know you intend to pursue their actions. Keep us updated, I am anxious to hear how this turns out! |

| I am appaled by this punishment. I am a teacher and I have never heard of anything like this. If you are not satisfied with the help of the principal talk with the superintendent and/or the school board. I bet the principal is not being held accountable for his actions because none of his bosses are aware of the situation. Talking with the superintendent and/or members of the school board will not only help your son, but will most likely keep this from happening to others students. Good luck! |

| My brother's half sister which she called me and my sisters her sister cause she was so young and didn't understand..well this year she is a senior and in the ground because of name calling. She hung herself. Her mom got up to a note she ran upstairs her duaghter wasn't there..so she ran outside to the garage and there she found her daughter hanging and dead. SOMEONE has got to stop kids from tormenting other kids at school. Name calling does hurt and it does affect other kids. In her not she wrote "I was tired of hurting and being called fat. I couldn't take it anymore"..think of that next time you hear your child calling some other child a name. I had to pull my oldest son because of kids tormenting..he's 6'5 and could of knocked the head off of any kid but i'd raised him to be nice..so no matter how often kids teased him..he was still nice..but late at night i'd hear him cying soflty in his room. So i pulled him and home schooled him. I have a daugther that has to see a counseler because kids tease her because she is a tomboy and dresses like one..she didn't "fit in" with the other girls..and the names they called her wern't what you may think is bad but it was enough to drop her self esteem..she went from being reaally confident to thinking she was ugly..and i've shown pics she and my son are gorgeous..but look what mean kids can do to one child..Parents I beg you to do what you can to stop your children from teasing. I know if it was mine they would think twice of doing it again. I dont' condone it or just say "oh well kids just tease"

| I"m sorry if my post seems harsh..but i want parents to know and maybe help change this. I hope you all understand why i had to post about that. It's hard for me to talk about and I dont'..most don't know unless they know me personally. But if telling my story stops one more kid from doing this than I had to tell it..

| I went to Catholic school, and was paddled...To this day Nuns scare me. I think that when selecting a school, the rules, guidelines, and punishments should be outlined. I don't think standing in the corner is too much if this punishment was set in the "SCHOOLS HANDBOOK" day 1. I might be afraid of nuns, but I think those paddlings help me become a good woman. JMHO!!

| Baby..I'm glad that show helped you. The sad thing is is alot of kids don't realize it and half tease because they are insecure. I have to say though my youngest has always been very popular and one time she snubbed her sister at school and i lit her heiny up and i'm not one to spank or harshly discipline..it's hard for me to but I also beleive that some things warrant a but woopin and that was one of those times. I didn't want her to grow up thinking that was something o.k. and she's never done it again. It surprised me she did because she's always been such a gentle child but she wanted to remain part of "the in crowd" so she did. NOw she realizes that she needs to be her own individual person and right is right and wrong is wrong. I agree a month is too long..but I do think kids should be punished for wrong doing.

| OMG.....I may have appeared to be somewhat quiet and unassuming....but, don't get me started....with this type of punishment.... #1. Where is this policy documented? #2. Why have you not been invited to school to talk with principal or better yet......principal inviting both the children and parents to school #3 Sounds like principal is into public humiliation......this is questionable I would have paid a visit to the principal office, met with my attorney and went to the school board, along with writing a letter to the editor. He has no right to continue this type of punishment.....shouldnt fit the crime? Maybe a call to the Civil Libertiy Union is in order.....they are for civil rights of all Americans...... Of course......nobody is going to humiliate my kids, not teacher, not bully, not principal.....not anybody..... You need to buy the book....."One minute manager" and put it on his darn desk........ Principal is a joke as far as I am concerned.... Sorry....every hair on the back of my head stood up!!!!! |

| wow! Where do ya start here! I agree that kids should not call names. But I also think that it is the parents job to teach the child right and wrong. But I don't think that its the case here. The child called him one name. Said he was sorry. The parents agreed that he should be punished. But to put him facing the wall for this long is just cruel. I can understand a day, but months! I would be outraged! And heartbroken for my child. Because I know that children can be cruel. I understand that he did call someone a name. But to put him in the place to be made fun of for that length of time is just terrible! I would be calling the school board for sure. I would want to have a sit down with them and the principle. Sometimes I think that some people pick the wrong careers. Seems to be the case here. Poor little guy. Good luck getting some answers.
