WOW! I'm a teacher, and I think that's ridiculous! My students (they're in middle school) call each other gay frequently. If I hear it in my class I freak out and give them a lecture and tell them the next time they're writing an essay. Then, if they do it again they write an essay (all with questions regarding the word "gay") and they have to get it signed. This usually deters them from saying it in my presence.
