Oh, she's gonna be a good cat fighter...already into the pinchin' and spittin' Friend's son was a biter. We once saw him lean over and bite the dog. Dog looked at him like...WTH?!?!? His mom cured him by biting him back once, had horrible guilt over it, but he didn't bite her anymore....just Aunt Deb....cause she didn't bite back Gave him that dog look though

I'm kidding 'bout the spitting. But be forewarned...you will use the word d-mn once and she will seize on it. She may not try it out in public til you're at church though

I am short and throw things in the top of my cabinets intead of getting a step stool. Threw a bag of sugar (I should've been a quarterback) in the top cabinet, it falls back out onto the stove. DD looks at me and says..."say d-mnit, momma". Told her "oh, sweetie we only say that if the bag had burst open". Not really, but I tried my hardest not to say it around her.

| I'm with Villette (not laughing) My initial response was spank the crap out 'em. But that's more then likely not the best solution. My daughter once did something at the mall and I made her stand in the a corner between 2 stores. She was great for the rest of the day. My youngest used to bite. I crammed a bar of soap in her mouth and she never did it again. Not saying these were the best or smartest solutions but at the time it worked. Kids need manuals. |

| As I read all this it reminds me that my second son used to bite my upper arm at that age (I think I blocked it out). If I were holding him and talking to someone, it was as if he were bored and wanted me to himself, he would just take a tiny bite of that fleshy part. There is no way to -not react- to that! OUCH! I even quizzed his doctor. He said 'my sister works for child services, therefore I can not tell you to spank him.'; 'However, you need to 'shock' him.' I didn't know what he meant by that, I decided he meant to spank him. Since I was holding him, I started giving him a quick smack on the big part of his theigh. It did stop him, or he grew out of it around that time. I was always very calculated whenever I spanked my children, the very few times I did; Never swat randomly at a child.

| The problem with getting a manual for the kiddos is its a little like buying manuals for our cars....There are hundreds and they all have different parts/solutions to problems etc... only the manuals for kids have no Titles or Descriptions on the front cover...so you never really know which one to get...until that hindsight thing kicks in.... I did that soap thing once to my oldest daughter. As luck would have it, she was allergic. I ran to the E.R. with her all swollen and full of hives. What a jerk I felt like Last edited by Pattie; 03-11-2006 at 08:39 PM. Reason: spelling (even with spellcheck! | |

| as a mother of three boys I agree, that if you make an issue of it, she will keep doing it. If you ignore it, she will get tired of it and find a new hobbie!

| No little ones left here, except Chloe (the precious one ha ha) and she can do whatever she wants Anyway back when.... When the ignore thing (thing1) didn't work, and I made it clear I was just so disappointed (thing2) BUT when that didn't work, I used pepper (thing3), (because of Jennifer's reaction to soap) that works I promise you I can't remember too many problems with them, maybe because it was so long ago ha ha, but for the most part they listened well, I don't even remember the terrible 2's. I remember the biting and spitting and I remember when the 2 oldest two would argue over toys or something trivial - it would drive me up the wall. Solution to that was easy (both in one room, tape recorder loaded with a 30 min tape, tell each other why you love each other until the tape runs out, then come out of the room - they'd be giggling within 10 minutes and the pepper was only used I think twice on the oldest. To this day (she is 26) she puts no pepper on her food. The younger 2 never did what she tried. (maybe they knew the pepper would come) Anyway pepper can't make them get hives or any type of reaction and it sure doesn't taste good by the 1/4 tsp, even when they rinse their mouth, the taste lingers |
