I couldn't have given any better advice & if your Mom lives at home, once Mom comes home, consider some day care or having an aide come in at least once a week to allow yourself & your Dad to get a break. Taking care of yourself means just that and it includes a break. It's amazing how much stronger you will be and how much clearer you will think (same for Dad) once you get some type of adult sitter to take over for a bit. She'll be safe - you'll be sane.

OMG, I so know what she and y'all are going thru. I finally have a rechargeable battery wired into my spinal cord and the battery pack is implanted under the skin in my left butt-cheek...So, I have managed to not become addicted to narcotics although I know many who are.
AND, this is one thing that has made my life more bearable. IMITREX Nasal Spray for migraines. I have tried it under every conceivable condition-you know, as soon as a symptom, wait for the nausea, wait an hour or two just to make really, really sure it is a migraine (I also have sinus headaches) and I can swear on the Bible, that spray works. I was a nurse for so many years and have been given everything imaginable for migraine symptoms, but thank God, Imitrex Nasal Spray works!!!!! I mean, it really works!! Can you tell how grateful I am to get relief from those pains.

I sure hope the best for your mother both physically and mentally. Some of these meds are temporary fixes but when they are taken from the patient they cause worse effects than what they were prescribed for. You need to stay clam within the permissible. I myself have deblt with panic and anxiety atttacks and still not 100% since two years ago when they started. Let me just say I went from 170 lbs to 152 in a week loosing my appetite. Thank good I am back to $170. Anxiety and panic attacks are something I don't even wish upon my worse enemy.

My dad got home from the Hospital at 1am and he told me that they did decide to commit her. So my mom is in the locked physc ward and we can only see her from 10 to noon and from 6-8pm. My dad came home saying I couldn't bring her home it wasn't the best for her. He is being the strong dad and saying it is going to be alright and I know it will but this is something I didn't ever think we would have to do. This weekend was the sign that something had to happen though because she had started saying we would be better without her and saying bye to us at every chance. My dad and I were just hoping that the dr he took mom to yesterday would have helped, but the dr was more interested in where my dad worked than the fact that my mom had thought about suicide and was not eating!! So the hospital was our last choice.

We are not sure how long mom will be there but I know she needs to be there as long as she needs to get better. I am at work today cause my dad said I didn't need to stay at home and worry all day. Thankfully the girl I work with and I have become good friends so I have appoligized to her for any spotanous crying or my falling asleep. She says we are going out for a bit a lunch.

If it wasn't for YT and moose, lil bear and harry potter dvd I don't know how I would have gotten through last night. I just want you all to know that I will be on a lot to keep my mind and sanity. Moose is showing herself to be a better service dog in training than I could imagine. I was crying after my dad got home and starting a panic attack and moose came laid by my side licked me and then nuzzled my hand to start petting her. If it wasn't for her I don't think my attack would have been as somewhat not as bad. Thankfully lil bear is keeping an eye on my dad and being a very good daddys girl.

Michelle: It sounds like those "nasty drugs" have gotten into your Mom's mind by the way she was talking. That's one of the side effects of them. You hear about it on TV all the time now. It'll take some time for the drugs to get out of her system.

I hope and pray that they'll be able to find out what "triggers" her migraines.

My son has migraines. I don't know why her doctor gave her pain killers for migraines but he shouldn't of. The have specific medicine for migraines. My son is on Imitrex. She needs to go to a different dr. Pain Killers are Highly addictive and are mood altering. Someone on pain pills for any length of time will obsess over everything and feel that there are problems where there aren't. My advice to you would be to find her a new doctor one that knows plenty about migraines. Has she had a cat scan as well to make sure something else isn't going on? I don't know if you know this but stress is the number one cause for migraines..Good luck to you..I'm sorry for what you are going through..
