| I had never heard of the concept of napping or sleeping under a weighted blanket or just using one for relaxation in a chair or recliner but the moment I saw one advertised on TV, I wanted it. I've always loved sleeping under heavy, heavy old quilts - the pressure of those extra-heavy covers is somehow just more restful and even kind of pain relieving for hurting or tired legs. Love my old quilts(bought in an antique shop years ago) but they are pretty shabby and now it sounds like there is something that might be even better as far as the functionality. Course the old quilts will always be favorites for their provenance and charming character. But supposedly the gravity or weighted blanket is like sleeping under a body hug or something equivalent, said to promote extra relaxation and deeper sleep for those that accept the concept. The very idea that there was something out there that could exert even pressure all over the body from the chin down past the toes(it's 70" long), way heavier than any combination of quilts and blankets that I have, kind of like a human version of a Thundershirt, and is new, pretty and even color-coordinated to my color schemes, sounded so good I bought it, sight unseen and without knowing a single soul who's ever used one. I bought a 15 lb. model, according to the weight chart suggestion. Am waiting for delivery and just wondered if anyone here has ever tried or owns one.

| I will. I'm so excited as the best and longest rest I get is anytime I sleep in a cool room and cocoon in under my old, heavy quilts. That wonderful pressure exerted evenly all over the body really seems to soothe and quiet me, relieve muscle tension. Can only hope that the much weightier Blanquil(from QVC) will make things even better. I've read spas, massage, athletic, even mental health type clinics have been using them for quite a while after deep massage/relaxation biofeedback sessions when the masseuse or therapist lowers the lights and leaves the lucky client to sustained rest and relaxation for the remainder of the session. Love my heavy old quilts but hope this blanket is even better.

| Gee I remember so well how my grandmother pilled on the layers of blankets a at night to keep,us warm because the old British large home were difficult, if impossible, to heat! Sometimes we couldn’t even roll over‼️ But we were cozy!

It WAS hard to turn over they were so heavy! You were snug as a buginarug swaddled under them and hated the idea of leaving that super-warm cocoon!

| Jeanie as a quilter I have not made one, yet. But many are made for all sorts of people, old, young,, autistic and other health issues. When I go to the dentist I take a heavy quilt as it seems to calm me. I use heavy quilts on my bed even in the summer. Please post your results.

| Never been under the actual 15 or 20 lb. weight some of the weighted blankets have but sleeping under the weight of those heavy quilts of Chachi's(that's what we all called Jimmy's maternal grandmother), with that even body pressure all over was so relaxing. Just sleeping under my jury-rigged attempt at making my own weight to sleep under - my double sized, doubled-over old, heavy quilt, two burned-out, formerly heated throws with the wiring and heaviness of the AC package down at the bottom still in them, together with my cover sheet and duvet for the overall effect of as much weight as I can manage, is pretty fine! But I have to turn down the A-C to keep from burning up under all those layers of blankets! It's worth it though. But at the end of the week, laundry time is serious work getting all those things off the bed, down the hall and into the washer, then wet and even heavier, hauled one by one out of the washer and into the dryer. Hopefully, with just the one heavy blanket and fabric freshener, I can go a month before having the weighted Blanquil dry cleaned, if I'm lucky. I don't know. Will just have to see how is fares with use. It comes with a removable, washable duvet-like tie-on cover that goes next to the skin, and is said to be soft and washable. The Blanquil has already shipped so hopefully I'll be snuggling under it soon, just about the time we get a cool front. ![]()
