My husband's grandmother had a house like that and she'd literally pile you with quilts when we visited overnight in cold weather. That's when I got my antique quilts - after sleeping under hers. It was very cold when you first got in bed but gradually the weight of those wonderful quilts caught all your body heat and you soon warmed and utterly relaxed to sleep. Best rest ever.

It WAS hard to turn over they were so heavy! You were snug as a buginarug swaddled under them and hated the idea of leaving that super-warm cocoon!
