| Your heart goes out to young black men who are born into a gang, drug or poverty lifestyle, having to grow up in a culture with little hope of getting out of that life unless they possess some truly exceptional drive or ability to withstand all the things going against you every single day from the day you are born. As an outsider looking in, it breaks your heart to just imagine what these kids deal with from birth - the lack of inclusion, the grinding poverty, the little chance of finding work that lasts and advances you. If you want to learn to read, speak well, you could be shamed, shunned or worse. Just trying to walk to school could be scary and life-threatening. School on an empty stomach has got to be agonizing. Who can learn when you haven't had dinner or breakfast, maybe just some potato chips. If you won't joint a gang, your mother's or sister's life could be at risk. Seems most government programs are not working to help the most of these kids and young men, even those want to break out and leave that lifestyle behind, when all their celebrity and entertainment idols seem to glorify a dangerous culture of hiphop violence, sexism and excess. Have you seen some of their appalling videos, many of them partly filmed in their luxurious homes and manicured grounds? It's got to grind in the gut of the kid who needs a decent meal or just a change of clothes. And apparently with far too little to no fatherly nurturing or help, these kids grow up basically depending on the one stable adult in the life, usually their mom or grandmother. These poor kids don't seem to have a chance in the 21st century unless they are gifted athletes or entertainers. And I'd be angry, too, if I had to live like that, with trouble, danger and frustration every way I turned. But if I just had an adult who could show me the way while my mom or grandmother worked, another person or two who cared, spent significant time with me, leading and teaching me, showing me how to read, how to actually study, showed me what employers are looking for, need to hear and expect out of an employee, nurturing me, never giving up on me, occasionally bringing me a present, I might give it a go to break out of that lifestyle. If some of our wealthier citizens, celebrities, literary elites could forego some of their luxuries, travels and help some of these kids, there could be more of them who could break out to a life and in turn, maybe help another kid. I can also imagine what it must feel like to be a young cop on the job, called to the scene of a shooting where the shooter is on the loose, little kids are out playing down the block and the crowd at the scene is growing restless, unruly, some of them calling you and your family ugly names, lunging at you, trying to bait you into growing angry, over-reacting, just because they or a family member have a bad history with cops. I can imagine the fear that young man must feel, the loneliness right then, the responsibility he feels to keep the public and those kids down the block safe but still can't blame the cops for waiting until two cars can respond. It's not a safe atmosphere for cops these days with people chanting in the streets that they need to be fried and killed. People wanted softer policing and now they are getting it but the trouble is, the criminal, the true thug who is only out for himself with a cold heart and no feelings for others, are given a longer, wider berth to hurt anyone who enters their pathway. And far too many poor black kids who could have a chance to escape that hellish lifestyle are being left behind, with far too little love or help out of it. Maybe some of the hiphop artists and moviemakers could produce less media of protest and rage and more of bettering oneself through schooling and learning some practical ways out of poverty.

| The profession a person chooses does not represent their character. There are good and bad people in every profession. I don’t think it is open season on cops; I appreciate their service to my community. However, I don’t trust cops. I am African American and my family has been discriminated against by cops. I have stories from police following my father home (walking) to lying on traffic reports. The discrimination happens on all economic backgrounds. We hear about it more because Black people can easily video tape it now. Last edited by JoshieBoy; 10-31-2015 at 03:18 PM. |

| On the news tonight, they had an officer that had pulled a woman over for a traffic violation....thank GOD he had a camera in his car as well as on his uniform....she started screaming, "Get your hands off me, what are you doing??? Stop it, you are hurting me, let go of me...he is grabbing me and throwing me around...." Fortunately, this "officer had all these cameras on him and his car, was filming the entire encounter, and while she was screaming and yelling for him to let her go, he was standing in the open door of her car, both of his hands on the car, not even touching this crazy lunatic....he just looked back at the camera filming from his dash in the patrol car and threw his hands up to show he was not even touching this maniac....he then did try to extricate her from the car, something to do about no license, and she yelled even more, tore loose from him jumped back into her car.....this "genius" then threw her car into reverse, the open door caught the police officer and knocked him to the ground, and this shining example of humankind, sped off into the neighborhood. All was caught on not only ONE camera, but two cameras.....she was of course caught, and this example of brilliant upstanding citizen will be doing time, well deserved time, behind bars. People, y'all need to update your "on board IQ"....police have caught onto your lies and attempts to defame and accuse them of misdeeds, and they are wearing cameras....on their bodies, in their cars, and now, even on their guns....if an officer pulls his gun on you, you are now being filmed from at least 3 different vantage points.....try to lie your way out of this evidence......of course, you can always sneak up behind the officer and murder him in cold blood......or sneak up while they are eating in their cars or in restaurants, with a burger in one hand and their drink in the other, and murder them..... | Bless your heart. I feel your pain. My father, my son & a brother in law were all law enforcement officers (GOOD OFFICERS). Also, having worked with law enforcement officers for most of my life I can honestly say that I can only think of maybe 2 or 3 that I felt were not what they should have been. There's no way that we can safely live in this world without our brave men & women in blue! |

| This thread shows the divide we have in our country. Sadly, some people show more sympathy over animals suffering from abuse than humans. A lot of Black people are being treated unfairly by cops right now. Cops calling Blacks animals and saying they will treat us like animals. Those cops are quick to shoot Blacks than other races. Think about the guy who shot the Black people in the SC church. They protected him and gave him a hamburger. If he was Black, they would have instantly killed him. Not all cops are bad, but the ones that treat others unfairly based on skin tone need to be let go. People are trying to make the world aware of the injustice happening to the Black community. I don't get why people feel they are under attack. If all lives truly matter why are people trying to take the focus off the problem? Last edited by JoshieBoy; 10-31-2015 at 06:33 PM. |

| A lot of black & white people are treating cops extremely bad right now! Look at Ferguson, Baltimore, NYC, Black Lives Matter movement, chanting in the streets "death to cops", "pigs in a blanket fry them like bacon". At what point does it stop? I agree all cops should be outfitted with cameras on everything, for the cops protection! ALL Lives matter is the way I see it, if your gonna go out there and loot, set businesses & cars on fire, shoot at the police then go out there expecting to get shot, that applies to all races and sexes. As far as the SC shooting, I live an hour away from Charleston, and it burns me up when people try to racially divide Charleston! The boy that did this sick crime was a deranged racist that deserves the death penalty imo. Charleston and all surrounding areas bounded together in this travesty, whites and blacks shoulder to shoulder ,hand in hand, #CharlestonStrong! The NAACPdid everything it could to rip us all apart but it didn't work in this case for them! Instead of blaming cops for everything it would serve us better to defuse black on black murders, take a gander at Chicagos statistics, it's horrific! But yet with statistics being oh so considerably lower cops get the blame.

| I'm glad to see the police are using cameras. This is a good idea for them and the person pulled over. I don't lock my doors where I live. Pretty quiet community here. I don't let fear dictate my life

| Just because you lock your doors doesn't mean you live in fear. its being cautious. Ppl go to quiet neighborhoods to rob. I lock all my doors but I have no fear. I lock the doors for their protection. Come into my house maybe your last |

| If someone really wants to come in uninvited, a locked door generally won't stop them ... but it will give me time to get armed and hit the panic button.
