Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Do you have a KitchenAid Stand Mixer & do you really use it? I'm considering buying a KitchenAid stand mixer bc there are some great deals out there right now....but I'm wondering -- if you have one, do you really drag it out to use it much? Or, do you just still use your hand mixer for the most part instead? I'd be storing mine in the cupboard (not on counter) and I can see myself being lazy about dragging it out and instead just defaulting to my hand mixer. So I'm just not sure it's worth the cost or not....thoughts?

| Mine is so heavy I have to leave it on the kitchen cabinet, like the coffeemaker. I used it when I used to bake a lot.

| OHHHHHHHH, I want one so bad but have the same dilemma. I don't want to leaveit on my counter. I love watching the cooking shows and QVC and what they make using it. You can now get an ice cream attachment and pasta attachment, my downfall foods.

| Mine is now stored in the pantry after many years of being on my counter. The thing we used it the most for was kneading dough with the dough hook, for making bread or pizza. Just about everything else I would rather do with a hand mixer, unless doing a huge batch of cookie dough. We don't make bread any more (although it sure was great to whip up french bread), and the mixer is so darn heavy I haven't gotten it out in a couple years.

| I love mine but it takes a longshoreman to lift it up to my counter. I use mine almost daily from October thru January. I went thru 3 hand mixers, trying to do stiff cookie dough and bread doughs, then decided I would spring for this work horse! I have since acquired numerous attachments, even a meat grinder!! that attaches to it! Can do my own ground chuck/sirloin/pork without ecoli contamination! |

| I have a pink one I got two Christmas ago and I love it. I make cakes though and I make homemade icing and it's really hard to make the icing with a hand mixer. I do have to pull mine out every time I want to use it which can be a pain because it is heavy.

YT 2000 Club Member | dog I have a really nice one, yet I always reach for my hand mixer. It is light and so much easier to clean. If I had the choice I would stick with the hand mixer unless you bake a lot and can really use the larger one. They are expensive. My friend Tom his girlfriend kicked him out and he took his kitchenaid with him and then gave it to me to use. That's how I got it! Otherwise I probably would not spend the money. |

| At least they do come in some really cool colors, if you are into that. I do have to say that the dough hook was amazing and lead to many years of awesome bread making, at one point almost daily. However I have been on low-carbs for years, and don't eat bread or sweets, so no longer need the Kitchen Aid mixer.

| Yes, we have one.We love it. I hated at first (heavy, did not think it worked well). Can't believe we used a hand mixer for so long. It stays on the counter. Definitely an appliance not meant for the cupboard, but I would still use it even if I had to get it out. So much faster, easier on your arm, and you can leave it run while adding ingredients.

| I saw a cupboard that was made especially for one of these.....you open the door, slide out the shelf it sits on and then you pull the shelf up and it raises up like it is on hydrolics, level with your counter top, for use! There was enough space on each side of the mixer on the special shelf, that you can reposition it some, to use comfortably. When finished, wipe the machine off, lower the shelf back down and slide it back into the cupboard! That price on QVC, if it is for the really powerful motor one, is a great price! I paid close to $450.00 for mine, and that was Christmas, back in 1997, when I broke every hand mixer I had in my house! |

| the one featured on QVC a couple of hours ago was the 5 qt. I don't remember how powerful it was. I think they said the regular price for this was $480 plus they had a bunch of neat colors I had never seen before.

| I looked at my machine....it is the Pro 600 with a 6 qt stainless steel bowl....it has a 575 watt motor.....I was like Scarlet O'Hara...."As God is my witness, I will never again break every electric mixer in my house in the middle of baking season!!! I want the biggest thing you have in a stand mixer!!!" They had one more that was more powerful, but it was almost $600.00 and I was not going to spend that on a mixer! |
