I should warn you though this show can be quite violent as it is about the Viking's invasion of Britain. Travis is definitely altered his looks for this part. Former Calvin Klein model Travis Fimmel grows a grizzly beard for new TV show Vikings | Daily Mail Online

It's Saturday, so I was going to go out shopping for the day...
But this week, while grocery shopping, I noticed Meijer had Moscato & Prosecco on sale...

So, it's a jumbo bottle of Moscato and a House of Cards 3 marathon day, stay home kind of day!!! Woot! Woot!

Thanks for the warning. Unless it's just objectionable throughout with no redeeming qualities, I can DVR and watch a show and just fast forward through the tough parts, which is how I make it through HTGAWM. That's a rugged one to get through lots of times but I so love Viola Davis I stay with it, hand on the FF button. ;)

Any fellow Brits watching Poldark?

I really like it thus far. I grew up watching the original, but this new guy is much hotter! And I love the scenery! Cornwall is probbly my favorite English coastline.

That first Battle Creek was a disappointment to me - DVR'd the second - hope it picks up the pace and whatshisnames jokes get better - they detective trying to be funny all the time. Waiting to watch two DVR'd Secret and Lies.

Anyone watching Vera on PBS? She's a cranky old bird but for some reason I've stuck through several of them but the whole series is so depressing. Why am I watching it?

I found the first Battle Creek pretty slow going. I found last nights episode slightly humorous, because here in Michigan they would kill over genuine maple syrup. I have a few friends who are on the outs with their neighbors because of them trespassing on their property to tap their maple trees!

I've not watched Vera. I'm not much of a fan of murder mysteries. Both my parents love watching them, so I think because I was forced to watch when I was young, it put me off them. My mum's current fav series is Scott & Bailey. I've seen the actress that plays Vera in a couple of other shows, and she's had a caustic sarcastic wit in those shows too, so i liked your "cranky old bird" description! Very fitting.

Vera is more like a police drama to me than say an Agatha Christie, Poirot or Grantchester murder mystery. I honestly don't know why I watch it but I guess it's partly because it seems so gritty and realistic - like stopping to leer at a bad train wreck or something and I'm normally I'm not a big fan of too much realism in my mystery shows. But there is something that keeps me watching - can't figure out what it is - the stories aren't that gripping.

I haven't seen Scott & Bailey but whatever they show on PBS or BBC America I'll usually give a try, unless it's the scifi stuff.

A lot 'racier' than the original....brilliant though so far, isn't it?!!!? Amazing scenery, of course :)

A lot of it is filmed in Charlestown in Cornwall Charlestown Cornwall where I can honestly say I've had THE best crab sandwiches in the world, ever...!!!!! Double woo hoo! :D

Until I've tasted it I bid to differ! :p WE have the best Dungeness crab here! Harry'smum, if you're ever in San Francisco and I'll buy you a dinner. :)

And if you're ever in sunny old Surrey - we could take a roadtrip down to Cornwall, and sit on the end of that jetty, and look at the ancient tallships and just drink in that view....heaven :dreaming: :2smileys: xx

He is yummy! It will be interesting to see how closely it follows the original.

I'm also watching Banished. Are you? It's strange to be watching so many series set in the past (downtown, vikings, poldark, banished). I then watch a current show, and it seems so lacking...lacking scenery, lacking costumes, lacking complex characters.

Talk about a beautiful period piece with gorgeous sets, clothes and scenery, anyone seen a bit of the new 2015 Cinderella. Looks stunning! The fashions are mouthwatering and so are the amazing sets that I saw. Tops Downtown and all the other period pieces ambiance I've seen on TV. The whole look and feel of it is just fantasyland-wonderful. Cinderella's amazing blue dress has like 18 miles of stitching of 10,000 Swarovski crystals, with 270 yards of fabric, I think I heard them say. And the evil stepmother's fashions - downright smashing. But oh, those sets! Should be a hunk or two in it, too. Sounds fantastical. Should be total eye-candy.

Your description alone makes me want to watch it. Is it a movie or a series?

It's Disney's latest high-budget 21st century live-action movie of an iconic fairy-tale. Looks absolutely magical. Go look at the trailer in HD. But until you see it on your HD big screen, it can't look the same. Can't wait to see it on the big movie screen. The single Swarovski crystal "glass slipper", polished and shaped like a gem, that Cinderella saves from the ball and hides, found, held up and then smashed by the evil godmother in one scene, cost $15,000.00, I heard on one entertainment show! It looks like a tour de force in gorgeous period costume dramas, even if we do all know the plot.

After watching Downtown Abbey and many of the BBC and other British/Canadian/Australian gorgeous period pieces, I am now a much bigger fan than I used to be of this genre. Before that, I've mostly loved British murder mysteries like Miss Marple, Poirot, any and all Sherlock Holmes renditions, Inspector Morse, Inspector Lewis, lately Miss Fisher(!) - it's beautifully presented at least, etc.; and now I've adapted myself to watching most anything filmed in high-quality HD, has lovely, quality sets and art direction, wonderful costuming and even the plot sometimes matter with these productions ;). But with the big, showy pieces, it's mostly an eye-candy thing that big screen HDTV and high color has roped me into - hehe. Only thing is, I want to see Cinderella at the movies with all the works. I can't wait to feast my eyes on the fantastic Cinderella blue ball gown on the big screen.

Anybody see HBO's "Jinxed" about Robert Durst? I'm thinking about getting HBO just to watch the replay of the series. Sounds fascinating.

Ach...."The Jinx" is the main part of the title of the HBO series, not "Jinxed". Anyway, has anybody watched? Any good? Twitterites seemed to love it. Weird that the old guy got arrested the night before the final episode, which itself sounds like a bizarre, Hollywood ending!

I took my niece to see Cinderella on Saturday. It was amazing! I truly enjoyed it. My nine year niece said "I have to have that dress", lol. There was an adorable little movie short of Frozen called "Frozen Fever", which was adorable as well.

I can't wait. We have an IMAX screen showing it at the theater complex fairly near me and I'm dying to see it on that. The movie looks so p and that ball gown especially. Can't wait.

I'm anxious to see Cinderella too, but I'm dying to see Beauty and the Beast. Emma Watson + Emma Thompson + Alan Menken = perfect

They actually made a fairly accurate prom dress based off the Cinderella dress, it's amazing
Disney Forever Enchanted Cinderella Ball Gown for Prom

Imax isn't worth the extra money in my opinion, I have perfect vision and couldn't see a difference. However movies are more expensive in NJ, normal is $11.50 and Imax is $17.50, my friends in TX pay about half that.

That's gorgeous! Who wouldn't feel like a princess in that gown!!! Wow! Not much $$$ either for all that fabric and work. It would be twice that in a real shop here in Texas I'll bet. Wonder how many lookalikes will be dancing at the prom in Cinderella blue gowns this year.

Yeah, I think the local IMAX theater ticket is $12/13.99 - not at much as I thought. It would be worth it at twice that - that's how bad I want to see that pretty movie. :)

I just saw Cinderella, it was gorgeous, totally worth seeing just for her dress. I think it's my new favorite version of Cinderella.

The Frozen Fever short was really cute too.

I ask because a while back I turned over to the program as she was finding what looked like a tiny-sized thumb drive or SD card but I forgot where she found it or what she did with it if I even saw that part. Haven't watched since but now I'm watching the episode aired just before Easter and a guy told Red he needed to produce the Fulcrum, if he has it. Wasn't this Fulcrum something that Lizzy's father had and somehow died for when she was a young girl? If so, how was it her father had a thumb drive or SD card 15 or more years ago? And a code to some computer that was generated all those years ago? Wonder what's on the computer?

Ah, I just heard Lizzy say Red told her it's a blackmail file. What the heck?
