I wish you nothing but the best of luck. I try every year. I can't do cold turkey but I know I can cut way back. I want to go down to maybe 4 a day. Then work on getting rid of that.

no criticism! just support! encouragement, and the incentive to rid ourselves
of this nasty nasty habit that is no longer socially accepted! So when you start even before I get my Start kit please download the quit keeper it will help us!
Good Luck to us all!!

Here is a link to get a quit keeper It is a free program and user friendly!

Quit Keeper is a quit meter that can track a variety of statistics associated with your quit. It can track your quit time, the number of cigarettes you haven't smoked, the money you have saved and the life that you have saved. Many quit meters track these stats but Quit Keeper goes further - it can also track your anniversaries i.e. 1 week, 2 month, 200 days and also the anniversaries of your friends/buddies.
One unique feature of Quit Keeper is it's ability to track the changes in price of cigarettes - so if the price of cigarettes goes up, you can enter that new price into Quit Keeper and it will update it's money saved statistic.

But I have heard good things about Smoke away it guarantees in 7 days or your money back! anyone hear of this product or have tried this method?
You can do this!! I am 59 1/2 years old. I smoked for 35 years. I have been smoke free for 14 months. I had to quit cold turkey due to a very very serious health crisis. It was quit smoking or DIE. Of course I chose life! I will say my year back to health has been quite interesting. There were many days that I never would have gotten out of bed, except my Yorkies needed me. They didn't want hubby or my son. They wanted me! I think that may be the reason I'm still here today. Sad isn't it!
Sad that I love these dogs so much. LOL

i dont think i can...i need help tooo....this is such a terrible addiction. i hate it. i wish i never started duh!
I quit smoking last year using the nocotine gum (last pretty ickky), and I just quit the nocotine gum, it can be just as addicting as smoking. Just that I might warn you about that. This change in habit not only happened to me, buy my previous boss. A friend of my quit by using Trident gum, everytime she thought she wanted a smoke she would pop in a peice of gum.

I am so glad that ya'll want to try smoking. It is hard, but possible if you want to and put your mind to it. You will feel some much better when you do quit. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Well since you asked....I can say I still would like to smoke a cigarette. <g> It doesn't seem to go away maybe it just takes longer. In my case I had absolutely no choice in quitting smoking. I had a heart attack but did not know it. I didn't know until i began to "fail".... really physically fail I could not get thru a day without passing out cold! Several times I was awaken while lying on the floor by my Yorkies licking my face. LOL I had severe heart complications and spent almost 5 weeks in the hospital...didn't know if I would ever be able to come home alive. Nearly 2 weeks of that time was spent in "open heart surgery recovery room" while the docs worked very hard to get my heart strong enough to beat. Then I spent another 2 weeks in ICU. Finally I managed to graduate to physical therpy and then I was on the road to recovery. It has NOT been an easy road back. I would advise ANYONE and EVERYONE to listen up.
Stop smoking now! I am not an avid stop smoking crazy person. But I do strongly recomend one think about the future if you expect to be around. Don't do as I did...listen up! You just may not be as lucky as I am. I am back to doing everything I did before the heart issues. I feel great! But again....listen up. That next cigarette could be your last...and I mean that literally. It could be the last thing you ever do!

I don't smoke (I used to smoke socially with a drink but quit that too), but I thought telling you this story might get more of you to quit. My father has smoked since he was in his late teens, making it over 35 years of smoking. He was super healthy until he collapsed last year. He had 2 heartattacks within 6 hours of each other. We almost lost him. He ate right, excercised and everything. The doctors told him that the smoking had done so much damage inside his body, that the next cigarette is his death wish. He has quit for over a year. He did it cold turkey and recently has been craving them again but my mom immediately got him the patch. I still consider him too young to have had a heartattack, at only 57. PLEASE quit, it's not because we're trying to be pushy but do it for your kids, your furbabies, your spouses, parents, siblings, ect. You don't want to be responsible for them going through the heart ache of you being sick or worse yet death (God Forbid). I thank God everyday that he helped my dad stay alive, so please quit now because it does catch up to you, no matter if you're 20 or 50. It all builds up. Sorry for the lecture and I hope it didn't seem that way, but I had to tell my story to all the people who think it's a crock when people say smoking isn't good for you. I'm very proud and so are your families, of those who are committing to quiting. It is a drug and is an addiction and is very hard, but you have to do it for you.

Oh one more thing. Wanta know the cost of a total heart tuneup! Nearly 1/2 million dollars plus maintence doctor visits and follow-up medications. Plus a heart checkup with heart tests last week cost around $5,000. Yep it cost around $485,000 initially to get my life back! Thank goodness for insurance! Without our excellent insurance I know I would not be here today. Does that offer some incentive for ya! LOL
I gotta laugh because it's really been a hard year!
