| ![]() How is it going with your changes that you are making in your "Lifestyle Changes" concerning the way you eat? Anyone making some big changes, little changes, any changes??? Why don't you submit some replies and tell all of us exactly what you have been doing about this? You can even send us some of your meal plans that you've been serving, within the guidelines, of course! LOL

| ![]() I'm sure I misspelled sabbatoge....anyway.....he "likes me just the way I am" which is wonderful, but it seems he makes it worse for me. he went grocery shopping on Sunday and came home with choc eclairs and oreos! (Two of my favorites) To him food equals love and I just can't seem to change him. I don't have the will power if the stuff is in the house. What do I do? I know he's not doing it to be mean, he just thinks I'll want it (which i do) so he buys it. But if it wasn't in the house I wouldn't eat it. HELP

| ![]() I know exactly where you are coming from. I have NO will power either so the junk food does NOT come into our house!*! It sounds like YOU need to be the one buying the groceries. If he goes to the store with you and wants to buy that junk, just tell him that if he really loves you, he'd not buy that junk that is going to turn you into a very sick person someday - maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow but it WILL catch up with you and then it'll be too late!*! The damage will already be done if it hasn't already! My husband shops for groceries and he KNOWS BETTER than to bring any junk into our house. I can't afford to CHEAT with food! Even my husband READS THE LABELS and knows the limits of everything on it. Sounds like YOU need to do some serious talking with your hubbie and talk about health issues. That's what it all boils down to. You either want to live or not!*!*! You either eat healthy and stay fit or eat junk and get heart disease or something worse. That is no fun! Remember: YOU are #1 ![]()

WOW! I'm so proud of you..... trying to quit smoking and changing to a healthy way of eating at the same time. Good for you! I commend you from the bottom of my heart. But, you sound determined and I know you'll succeed. For the others, don't be discouraged if you only lose a pound a week. That's one pound less that YOU have to carry around. Before you know it, the pounds will be adding up. You don't want to lose too fast anyway or you might not be able to keep it off. Thank you, Sweetie for the kind comments you had to say. I appreciate them. Good luck to all of you.

I am in a breast cancer research program studying the effects of exercise on recovery. (am cancer free, by the way, one year!) I walk 2 miles on a track twice a week, and do 12 reps on 8 nautilus machines, and lift free weights twice a week. It has really helped. I am done with the program as of the end of this month, and am signing up for the Y this week. I am determined to keep this size 6 body I never expected to have at 51 years old, and in order to do so I know I need the exercise too. I am not an exercise freak and am not nearly as dedicated to exercise as I am to eating right, but I know the two of them go hand in hand to keep you well and keep the body working right. I encourage all of you to eat right AND exercise! Keep up the good work, everyone!! I am so proud of all of you!! ![]()

| ![]() I would like to make sure that I get everyone on the chart that wants to be there!! If you do want to be on the Weekly Report, please PM me your weight. We are weighing in every Sunday, remember, and either posting the weight here on this thread, or PMing me for club-only privacy. Also, if you want to receive the report, please PM me your email address. I am sorry I have not sent the report out yet this week. Not that many people have reported their Sunday weight. I will try to send by Saturday at the latest. ![]()

| ![]() Circumference: Waist and hip measurements are unaffected by water, muscle or other outside influences. "In many ways, these numbers are even better than BMI, weight or even body fat percentage because they’re more stagnant," says Gidus. And they tell you if you’ve lost inches -- not just water weight. Weight: Research shows that people who weigh themselves regularly are the most likely to maintain and lose weight. Even though weight fluctuates -- you can gain a few pounds just from being, er, a little backed up -- checking in with the scale every day will give you a better idea of your progress. Calories and Fat: Need a no-nonsense way to determine your daily allotment of calories and fat grams? Take your goal weight and multiply it by 11 if you’re a woman and 12 if you’re a man. So a woman who wants to weigh 140 pounds should get about 1,540 calories each day (140 x 11). Since experts recommend that 30 percent of calories should come from fat, multiply your calorie goal by .3 (30 percent) and then divide by nine (since there are nine calories in one gram of fat) to get your daily quota of fat. So the woman in this example should shoot for about 51 grams of fat. Target Heart Rate: To figure out your target heart rate, subtract your age from 220 and then multiply by 60 to 85 percent. “That’s the range you hit during exercise for maximum calorie burning,” says Gidus. Using a heart-rate monitor during your workouts can help you make sure you’re in the “zone.” --Amy Paturel |

![]() ![]() However, personally I think the fat count is too high in the above calculation. JMO, but I try to limit fat as much as possible. Works for me, may not work for others. Maybe if you are getting your fat calories from GOOD fats such as nuts and low fat spreads, it could add up to that, but if within your fats you are eating a lot of saturateds and trans, it could be trouble. ![]() ![]() ![]()
