I probably would have believed her until I heard all of the financial fraud and things she'd been into with banks and they had called her in and were going to tell her husband, a popular preacher in that town, and have him come in for a sit down is how the story goes now that I'm thinking back. I don't think the banks had actually reported her to the D.A. or anything yet. The day she found out they were going to call him is the night he died, if I'm remembering right. She knew that she was going to have to face up to what she had done as that preacher couldn't face the bank board of directors and security and just wipe it all away. But she said that was only coincidence that he died that night(actually I think it was early the next morning) and he was shot because he threatened or talked harshly or threateningly to one of the girls that night and she just shot him. Or he kicked her or something. She can remember all of that. Then she unplugged the telephone and left him on the floor to die without help. And hit the road with all 3 girls - didn't call 911 or turn herself in. Police found him bled out and the unplugged phone nearby. Said she remembered nothing of shooting him in the back or leaving him to die or unplugging the phone. But she got off with mental issues. Jury totally bought it.

That's interesting; I guess the people I thought were spectators who seemed to be animated and amused by the whole thing are her family. The people I thought were very involved and interested, are his family. I guess I need to start at the beginning and here the first part of the trial. I already had a bad dream about the case and dreamt my dogs Joey and Ralphie wanted a mistrial. I get too involved in these cases.

I don't usually see this much of a trial, but this one is so interesting. I almost think it's impossible that 1 or 2 jurors won't be utterly seduced by her skilled lying and good public speaking skills. This week should be very interesting with the redirect, the recross, AND the jury questions. The jury questions could imply quite a bit.

Btw, the gas can thing in terms of pre-meditation: the reason the cans were believed to speak to pre-med is bc she filled them up before leaving Cali -- and it is believed that, in addition to turning OFF her cell phone upon nearing AZ - that she would also make sure to not purchase any gas or anything by credit card etc. Instead, she'd use the gas cans to fill her car up as she traveled within AZ and from AZ. Therefore, there would be no record of her ever being in AZ during the time of the murder (remember, in her 1st story, she said she was never even IN Mesa at the time of the murder). Instead, her claim of taking *only* a trip to Utah to see that Ryan guy would be believable and supportable. Interesting, eh?

Okay, I was thinking that the gas cans meant she was going to burn the place, and that she panicked, but then I finally heard some testimony that she didn't want a paper trail, it does prove premedication, along with the thief from Grandpa's house of a gun. Would anyone believe that she did this to save money on gas? I have a feeling Jodi thought she was so much smarter than everyone else, I think she probably was a smart girl, but obviously NOT that smart.

If seen a lot of the trial and from what I have seen, that women if "coo coo for co co puffs" .... She will hopefully get convicted of this horrible crime she is charged with.

Right now I'm watching her attorney question her.....I can't take is flat monotone voice when her pitches questions to her!......I was trying to find some info on how long they dated, from what I can find it was maybe year, there was a couple breakups so it hard to tell.

Amen to the gas cans. Why in the world would you go off grid and drive with gas cans filled with gas unless you didn't want anyone to know where you were and leave a paper trail in Arizona and turn up with brown hair? And the fact that the rented car she did make the trip in had to be any color than red and not as easily noticed. That just speaks pre-planning to me but after O.J. and Casey Anthony, I know certain juries can be totally swayed by many things and find other interpretations.

I feel sorry for that jury. I cannot stand listening to her .. but I can change the channel. How any one of them could feel sorry for her is just out of the scope of my imagination. But..yeah...after the other freak trials we have witnessed, anything can happen.

Oh, I'm like you. I tried listening some Wed. or Thurs. last week but just couldn't stomach it for long. They weren't bleeping much and it was sickening - as is the defendant. What a wretched human being! I hope she doesn't get off with so very little time it makes a mockery of our criminal justice system - again. So many of the high-profile trials don't seem to end in much justice for the victim(s) unless there is a video tape of the defendant actually breaking the law and those are awfully hard to come by.

It's on CNNHL (CNN Headline News). If you have Cox here, it's channel 38. It starts around 10-10:30am and goes allllllllllll day. If you tape it, at least you can skip the commercials. I believe you can also watch it streaming online though - maybe at CNNHL or at 'TruTv' (if that's the network that has 'In Session', which also covers big trials.

I know...like anyone would believe she'd lug around two gas cans to save money..??? Also, why wouldja save money buying gas in CALI!!?? Pretty sure it's more there, isn't it, than Utah - where she was supposedly going. And YES, she really did think she was going to outsmart anyone and everyone - so arrogant.

I know, her affect is so flat - even when she talks about things that would turn most of us into a sobbing puddle. She really seems an overall numb person. Yes, they dated about a year, and then afterward they still hung out, traveled, and were intimate.

Given her meek act, how well spoken she is (flatness aside), her size, and yes - her 'looks'....I can see that one juror holding out for her.

I think if the jury gets hung up on anything -- it will be 1) lack of undeniable proof of pre-meditation and (on the flip side) 2) lack of indication of TRUE self defense on the day of the murder. Even when Jodi says "I was in fear for my life that day" -- it's like she's saying "I crossed the street that day"...it's just so....so nothing. People who kill in self defense almost always feel just horrible, sinking guilt and fear - even though it was to save themselves.

Yes, that's a good point, she still hasn't shown me any sadness or remorse over doing this. I heard that the deepest wound was into Travis's heart, that's significant. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Thanks for the tip on CNNHL, I had checked it several times, but I guess it was at the wrong times. I heard last night one of Travis’ friends say that he was like the 40 year old virgin, and he thought that Jodi brought this side of him out. Jodi herself says she wasn’t enjoying many of the acts, but she just wanted to please him, this makes me think she just wanted to control him. I guess I'm not equating that with abuse, and I'll be shocked if jurors do.

I have become renowned for being Single unfortunately. Most of my peers have been married for years and have several children. In 5 years I will be the same age as my grand mother when she first achieved that title. As you can imagine from friends and family a like I am constantly getting grilled and lectured over my solitary status. I have countless scouts that out of love and concern, diligently look underneath every rock and tree for a help mate to get me hitched to. Every time I speak somewhere in my introduction the host makes sure to comment, “By the way Ladies he is Single!!!” Followed by the token pity howls, given by those that were let in the room for free. I used to like it in fact. I used to imagine myself as some dangerously handsome tycoon in “Time” magazine as one of the worlds most eligible bachelors. I had a bit of a swagger because of it, a smirk on my face and a pep in my step. Then I turned 30. As I tend to do, I did a little soul searching and realized that I was lonely. A quote from David O McKay kept haunting me. “No success can compensate for failure in the home.” I was a different type of homeless, one with just as few legitimate excuses as the other type bumming for change at a freeway off ramp. Around then I realized it was time to adjust my priorities and date with marriage in mind. Not to ask some one on a date because I planned on marrying them, but to date someone to look for the possibility of marriage with them. This type of dating to me is like a very long job interview and can be exponentially more mentally taxing. Desperately trying to find out if my date has an axe murderer penned up inside of her and knowing she is wondering the same thing about me. That’s usually when I think myself into a panic and start acting weird in consequence to trying so hard to act normal.

In the midst of all of this however I have learned a lot about what matters most to me in finding a wife. There are many qualities of course that are an absolute must. Spirituality, mutual physical attraction, the ability to communicate effectively, wants children, etc. but there is one thing that I have come to appreciate as much or more than all the others. I don’t know how to label this quality except to say that it is the quality to appreciate the qualities in me.

There are a lot of things us quirky humans find endearing, that everyone else could care less about. The way we mispronounce a word, how we slurp our soup or snort when we laugh. Those types of things I feel are important. However it is not what causes love, it’s a by product of love.


People fall in love for too many reasons to count. Usually it is a combination of reasons. But I want someone to fall in love with me because I am a man of ability and achievement. Not because I have a lot of friends (not saying I do) but for the reason people want to befriend me, not because I have tons of money (not saying I do) but because I have the ability to earn a ton of money. Not because of my accomplishments but because I am a man of accomplishment. In fact I wouldn’t want to marry anyone if they loved me and these were not at least some of the reasons why.

There's a lot more, but my point is that he was looking for a wife, and when Jodi found out she didn't meet his criteria, she was enraged.

By the way, if I were a juror, I want to know how she defines "unconditional love."
