| haha the pink & green bathroom you ripped out!!!! Our main bath and master bath were side by side and both EXTREMELY outdated. The main bath had a PINK tub, toilet and double sinks with pink walls tiles along every wall and even over your head in the shower, the countertops were lime green! AWFUL too!!!! LOL We ripped both bathrooms out, down to the studs and redid them both also about 4 years ago. Our kitchen project is more like a 'facelift' ... we still have running appliances and water, we did not take out the cabinets, we are painting them and leaving them where they are. We are not moving appliances either. We basically took out a peninsula counter and made an island out of 1/2 of it. We took a 48'' cabinet and cut it in 1/2 and put it along the back wall, thats all for true renovations. We are putting new countertops in and a new sink since it was free with the countertops and we cut out a square in the linoleum where the 'kitchen' area is and are tiling that. Oh and a new backsplash. The back splash is little 1 inch glass squares in different random color pattern with greys, whites, silvers and black. My brother is going to do the floor this week, he hopes to have that completed by this weekend, then we wait 3 long painful weeks for the counters and sink to get installed. In the meantime I have to finish painting the cabinets and they are spraying the heater units white, changing all the electrical outlets to white (adding more outlets also) and putting wanes coating on the Island to match the walls. After the counters are in, we are going to put LED lighting under the cabinets and replace the ceiling lighting unit (not sure to what yet). Then we'll be done except the cleaning! I'm hoping within a month the project will be completed. In the meantime though I still have a fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave and sink! YAY!!!

| What kind of glass did you use for the back splash tiling? I've been looking at a million different materials and am leaning towards glass too but apparently that's even a multiple choice beyond color and finish! Loving the pics!

| This is the backsplash we got exactly. I think it will look nice, when I see it in pics it looks great. You would think busy, but actually its not as busy looking as you'd think. Shop Style Selections 12-in x 12-in Smoke Stone Wall Tile at Lowes.com

I think I'd go with bigger tiles here to give the illusion of more space since we're square footage poor, but I love the pattern of it. We have just finished painting the 1970's builder dark brown cabinets in an antique enamel white and added small clear glass pulls. All the bedrooms here are super loud colors, and across from our kitchen (converted dining room to both dining living room to make living my daughters room) is a flat black wall with all our pics in black frames-so the kitchen is totally bright white and we want black (smoke tone) floors to mellow the house a bit.

| Well yesterday we got a TON done in our kitchen! Well all weekend we did. Hubby & I had the day off and my brother came up. My brother is a bit ambitious and it was a 10 hour day for all of us, but wow, we really pulled a lot together. The floor is done, the cabinets are all painted, we got a new ceiling light and new over the sink lights and under the cabinet lights. We got all the cabinets painted and all rehung except 1 since we miscounted the hinges and handles and it was 9pm when we finished, we didn't want to go back out in the snow for 1 more hinge and handle. Here is a pic of it coming together. The countertops are coming in 8 days!!! Then the backsplash, finish the lighting and changing all the off white to white (light switches, heaters, etc...) I'm getting sooooooo thrilled and this was the quickest project ever! Started 2 weeks ago today and will end 2 weeks or less from today! Amazing!!!

| Not only is it absolutely beautiful, your floor design and the shift in light on the coloring balance has really made it look like a completely redone kitchen. Amazing job!

| Thanks!!!! I can't believe it either. It was a bit of work and we are not done yet... but amazingly it was not as hard as I thought it would be and it does look like a whole new kitchen! 1 more week and the granite and new sink come and then that weekend the backsplash will be done and it will basically be done! I CANNOT wait!!!! What a great update to the house! I am thrilled!

| Okay here's the only before pic I could find (it just shows the darkness of the builder grade cabinetry) and mid lunch recycle time I had my son snap a few pics for me of the make over-so far all we've done is re-plumbed everything and rebuilt under the sink where the pipes broke, painted it all white and added the crystal knobs and pulls...oh and we half painted the walls (not finished) we stopped when I decided the color was way too dark on the wall compared to the swatch...new appliances, flooring, counter tops etc to come...but we're debating knocking down the wall and extending the kitchen into where the master bedroom bath is...much more expensive but then again so is remodeling twice in the next 10 years so we're in limbo atm.

| The crystal knobs look beautiful on the white cabinets! I hate doing things twice too, so I hear you. Honestly if the choice is master bath or bigger kitchen I would consult lots of avenues from design experts at the hardware stores, to hgtv type shows, to magazines and evn the housing market. That is a tough decision to make and not one I'd like to do and then find out it devalued the house, or not do and find out it devalued your house. It's your equity girl.... Get the biggest bang for your buck. Removing a bath may hurt in the long run, but maybe not! Tough decision....wish you lots of luck and fun with finishing your project!

| No we have a master bath...which is like a cruis ship bathroom (ridiculously small) we concerted the living room into a master sized bedroom for my daughter and the dining room is our living and dining room-seriously space poor making it a 4 bedroom house to accomodate skin kids. We're thinking of building a master bedroom/actual sized master bath onto back or a second story and making the current kitchen a dining room pushing kitch back into master bedroom and since master bath sharws a wall with the mirror image kid's/guest bathroom, making it one larger bathroom with the toilet and a sink separate from the bathtub...and having the master toilet ve a separate toilet off the kitchen pantry with just a sink no full bath.

| YAY! The counters are in!!! These pics probably do not do it justice, hubby sent them to me, but I have not seen it yet since I'm at work until 5. I cannot wait to go home and see it though!!!! We are trying to decide between the 2 back splashes, that is the last major piece of the renovations. They are essentially the same look, but one it lighter and one is darker. Hubby likes the lighter one, but I'm afraid of a washout and nothing tying the floor into the room (with the black squares) so I like the darker one. I think it will make more of a statement and keep the kitchen from being drowned out. Anyways, so far, what do you all think? Cabinets are done, floor is done, lights are done, counters are in... just need to change over the electrical outlets to white, paint the heaters white, do some random odd things and the back splash.

| Beautiful! I like the light/dark contrast. I can just imagine how much it would be accented with accent items in various spmashes of color.
