| Flash flood here at home with pictures So last sunday the second day of my hubbys vacation it started to rain about 3 pm. He came home from his rained out baseball game and said do you want to drive around and see the crazy weather? He told me that streets were all washed out and of course I grabbed the camera and off we went. Our home is only 7 years old and we had no reason to worry well thats what we though until we went down to the basement and a vase floated past the stairs So hours and hours and more hours of work and the house still needs more TLC but we are starting to get it back in order. Insurance will cover the loses and have asked us to submit the hours for our labour which I understand they will be paying us for. We have been down this road (creek) before in our old 100+ years home but never thought it would happen here. We arent alone of course as there are 100's of claims from flood damage. Thankfully we opted not to finish the basement as that was something we had considered. Gotta love Mother Nature. T

| Thought I would give you guys an idea of what your seeing. This is our street, Chloe and I standing in the "river", notice the lack of sidewalk?, our neighbour having a great sense of humor in light of the crisis brought a pool noodle and of course our basement under 6 inches of water . A couple of residents of Binbrook have rain gauges that registered just of 6 inches of water in two and a half hours! We havent had rain here in weeks so the ground which is mostly clay was so hard that it couldn't absorb the rain nearly fast enough to deal with the insane amount of rain. I have another pic that I will post that I didnt take but that really says it all. When I find it I will post it. This sure wasnt the vacation my husband had in mind and thank God we decided not to go anywhere for the first time in three years.

| Oh, my goodness your pictures and the story are shocking at how quickly the weather can humble us and change our lives. I am so very glad that you all are safe and the cleaning is coming along. Thank goodness for insurance, huh? I pray this won't happen again ever to you.

There was almost 15,000 dollars in lost items as we thought we were safe from flooding as there as never been a flood in Binbrook for at least the last 50 years. Also given how new the home was we had most of our belongings in cardboard boxes. Also I was in the process of organizing and many of our items were not in a box of any kind. I mean yes I wanted to clean and organize the basement but not like this lmao. Oh well bright side is all my skinny/winter clothes are being replaced so can you say shopping spree And our basement is now VERY clean and organized lol. Thanks for the kind words everyone. I am a pro at flooded basements now as this was the third time and thankfully the best of the bunch as this time it was grey water unlike the last two which were black water....very nasty stuff

| Heres a pic that really says it all. This photo appeared in the Hamilton Spectator (Binbrook) is a suburb of Hamilton. The picture was taken at a Tim Hortons about 15 mins from our house. Someone clever added the caption and so I have uploaded this copy

| About 4 years ago we had 2 years in a row that we had MAJOR flooding here where I live. One day it took me almost 3 hours to get home, I had to around the entire state just about to get home because so many roads were closed due to flooding. Here is a pic of a VERY popular summer seafood place at Seabrook Beach, NH that was flooded. Google Image Result for http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6053/6344730152_2243039789_m.jpg and this is the road I worked on at the time, look at the Friendlys and gas station!!!!! I never saw anything like this!!! http://www.google.com/imgres?q=Rte+114+Lawrence+MA+flooded&um=1&hl=en&cl ient=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-USfficial&biw=1256&bih=522&tbm=isch&tbnid=KwYL1G 7A30KQUM:&imgrefurl=http://www.panoramio.com/photo/12342154&docid=RzVPfHw1B1JyLM&imgurl=http://mw2.google.com/mw-panoramio/photos/medium/12342154.jpg&w=500&h=376&ei=JdwXUIGnK8ja0QGf-4HgBQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=114&vpy=160&dur=16&hovh=1 95&hovw=259&tx=139&ty=138&sig=11109661284278414344 0&page=1&tbnh=157&tbnw=207&start=0&ndsp=10&ved=1t: 429,r:0,s:0,i:72
