Do you cook your bacon in the oven?

I've cooked bacon in the oven a couple of times...it was sooo easy, I didn't even need to turn it.....I've been wanting to try it sprinkled with some brown sugar and some pepper.

I always cook bacon in the oven. It doesn't get so grease laden, and more importantly is stays FLAT! My mom taught me that method. She has been cooking bacon in the oven for 60 years. Maybe it's a midwest thing??

I don't know...I learned to cook it in the microwave on paper towels a long time ago...not sure where I even learned that now My Mom used to fry hers in a cast iron skillet but that's sooo messy.

I cook Bacon in the oven.

1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
2. Place bacon on ungreased non stick baking sheet
3. Bake for 8 minutes, remove sheet turn bacon and cook for another 8 minutes

Watch the times, ovens all cook at a different rate (from my experience)

I have it cooking now, on a wire rack over a jelly roll pan so we'll see how it goes. I like mine very crisp though so it might take a little longer...no wiggly bacon for me

I'm sure you'll love it. It comes out really nice in the oven. I used to do it that way when I made a lot (5 kids) but now it's just my daughter at home, so I just pan-fry it. Speaking of bacon, I discovered Oscar Meyer SUPER thick cut bacon a few months ago. OMG it is SO good! Now I am spoiled and when they were out of it at the store, the other bacon (that was just fine before ) tasted like poo

Microwaving "real" food scares me a bit. I don't mind reheating but I guess I feel like I'm getting radiated less this way ???

Uhm...we didn't like it. I used a jelly roll pan lined with foil and a wire rack so the bacon was raised up and the grease could drain away but it was still too greasy for us. I used the same brand of bacon I always use too so it wasn't that and it was definitely easier because I could make the whole package at once instead of redoing the paper towles and plates for the microwave several times.

Went to the store...bought paper towels...we'll be making ours in the microwave from now on.

Well you still have to blot the excess oil off on paper towels no matter what the method

Oh my gosh! I sprinkle cayenne on everything! Why have I not thought of putting it on my bacon?

On another note, have you all tried the little smokies wrapped in bacon sprinkled with brown sugar and baked? Sooo yummy!!

My favorite bacon is Costco's mapel bacon. It is like candy!!!

hmm, I think ours is less greasy from the oven, but that's comparing it to frying because I don't cook bacon in the microwave. I don't use aluminum foil though because clean up from it is really not that bad. I drain the fat immediately when it comes out of the oven, then I elevate one end of the pan for the rest of the fat to drain and doing it this way I don't feel I have near the mess as I do with grease soaked paper towels and actually need to do little blotting. I do think it takes a couple of tries to get the bacon cooked just right though.
