| Went to the ortho this morning. You know it's really bad when the ortho surgeon walks in the room, introduces himself and the first thing he says is "OUCH, that doesn't look right." What the latest set of xrays revealed was that the distal tibia break(s) never healed, which means I've been walking around on a broken leg for almost 4 years. That's the most likely reason why the titanium rod broke. At least I know that I'm not just a weenie-wus whiney complainer about the pain. Today they did blookwork, because there is the possibility that I may have a bone infection - oh joy, another worry. On Monday I go visit yet another ortho surgeon who is a specializes in breaks that don't heal (non union fractures). There is no doubt that surgery is in my very near future, and from the limited research I've done on non-union fractures of the distal blade plate, it won't be pleasant. I am working as hard as I can to get all outstanding orders out prior to my big day . Your continued prayers, will be greatly appreciated. |

| You are not a weenie-wus whiney complainer. Heck, if anything, you are an Honorary Marine. Sorry that happened, but can't imagine walking around like that for 4 years. Hopefully this time they will get it right, and will recover totally, and soon be pain free. Everyone will be pulling for your complete recovery |

| Cindy, we will definitely be sending you good vibes and prayers. You have every right to feel like you do, you have/are going thru the ringer. I hope they will be able to "fix" this once and for all! Hugs to you.

| Oh no, thats what kind of plate & rods I have in my back. Believe me, I know the pain. I never have a day without it. I have took so many pain pills its unreal. Now I have 2 knee replacements (that POP) and I had to go back to the hospital for an infection in my right knee. Those infections are not to take lightly. I will be praying for you because I know the thoughts of having more back or knee surgeries almost makes me have a nervious breakdown. My back surgery went good until I had my knees done and now its hurting again. I really feel for you because I know what you face. I had both knees done 4 days apart and I wish with everything in me I had never had it done. I had rather have my old knees and the pain than go through what I have gone through. Bless you and I hope everything works for you. |

| 4 years?!? thats painfully impressive that you've been able to walk! my dad has had a broken foot for 2 years and he is back on morphine patches for it again (they didnt bother trying to fix it at the time and tried to convince him it would heal itself), so your definitely not a weenie-wus whiney complainer! i hope all goes well with getting it fixed, but with any luck you'll be feeling better soon! big hugs to you from me n the kids!

| Thor's Human Donating Member | That sounds absolutely awful. How did you get around on your broken foot? Did you not feel the pain, or was everything held together with the rod or something?

| I went to the very special ortho specialist who fixes other ortho's screw ups yesterday. I got some fantactic news - he CAN fix me -- and some very scary news - the procedure. In a nutshell, they will remove the plate - both the part that is broken and the other part that is still screwed through my tibia. Then they will give me a bone marrow transplant (marrow harvested from my femur). Here's where it gets tricky. Dr. T. will break my tibia above the damage and install a Ilizarov halo. I am supposed to be walking the day after surgery. I'll be in the hospital for 2 - 4 days and will have the halo as my best friend for up to 14 months while the bone mends and they lengthen my leg. We'll schedule surgery when I go back on Monday. |

| Cindy, I'm so glad to hear there's help for you. I'll be praying that this procedure is a success and eliminates the pain you've been dealing with. Hugs, Bonny
