I'd not like to be one of the judges this year. All 13 are truly amazing and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if the all didn't get a record contract. My favorite singer singer of all time is Seline Dion, and when Pia Toscano sang one of her songs, she blew it out of the park. I've heard other gals try and take on a Seline song, and failed. Pia is truly amazing. I love a lot of country western songs, and I have to say I'm in complete agreement with Randy when he said last week that Scotty McCreery was born to sing country. He may win, but even if he doesn't, he has a bright future ahead of him and we will see a lot of him in the future. I think Jacob Lusk is another born to sing guy. Wow, what a strong voice. Wish he was in our church choir. He's another very strong contender to win I think! Lauren Alaina has such a great voice for a 16 year old, but even though she's worthy of a recording contract, I don't think she will win this competition but I do think she will be offered a record deal. I wish Haley Reinhart had picked a different song other than a Leann Ryme's song because she's been practicing those all her life. She even learned to yodel like Leann. She's good, but not unique. The one guy who stands out as a true performer, whether on a broadway stage, comedian in a sitcom, or singer, is Casey Abrams. He's a natural and the only thing he needs to hone, is to smile and be more extraverted. But then that comes with being more worldly I suppose. James Durbin is a true rocker and his voice range is awesome. He may get all the way up to the last 6, but don't think he will win even though rockers seem to be a big favorite with the young folks. I was disappointed with Paul McDonald last night. He just may not make it to the next round because of that even though the judges were trying hard to let everyone know that he has to potential to go far. Thia Megia has the most beautiful voice, and could easily work in animations, including Disney. I don't think she will make it thru. this time, but I'm sure she will be picked up by one of the movie moguls. Stefano Langone sure surprised me last night. He was great! Glad he was one of the wild cards. It's going to be very interesting to see how far he can go now. I don't think Naima Adedapo will be put thru. but I sure hope she doesn't have to go back to work cleaning toilets. She's good, and deserves a break. Ashthon Jones won't get much further because she isn't consistent. Last night she may have been very nervous because a lot was expected of her and Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown Record Label, was sitting right up front. She tries to look and sing like Diana Ross, and she did till last night. Poor girl, you could tell she was not happy with herself. Karen Rodriquez is really very good, but I don't think she's going much further now. Some of these kids definitely have stage presence and some don't even if they do have really good voices. Tonight is going to be interesting. |
Pia is definitely my favorite and I will be shocked if she doesn't win the whole thing. I voted for Scotty, James, Jacob, Haley, Pia and Casey. I like the other people but I won't care if they leave either. I was disappointed w/ Karen. I like her a lot but she wasn't great last night. Looking forward to tonight, hopefully there aren't any upsets! |

I was probably most surprised by James Durban this week, I was in the other room when he was singing, and I had to run to see who that was, I was so shocked to see James doing this song, it really showed a whole other side to him. |

Agree, agree, agree  James showed that he can do higher and softer notes with his voice last night. I think America needed to see that from him! It's all about the guys for me this year. Casey, Paul, Jacob, and James are my favorites! |
I fast forwarded to the end last night so I could go to bed so I saw who left but who was sick and in the hospital. Casey? |

'A.I.' Contestant Casey Abrams Hospitalized -- Still in Jeopardy | TMZ.com I pray he makes a speedy recovery. I was surprised that Ashton was eliminated. I really liked her. |

Does anyone else think they way Ryan breaks the news to contestants, is mean? I noticed it last year, and I was hoping this year it would be better. It doesn't add to the suspense, it's just so unconfortable to watch. On the last show, when the three female contestants were standing he said, said, All of you are safe" and then added "except for . . . " It was like the girl was feeling great before he smashed her to the floor. On a positive note, it was great seeing Adam again. |
I haven't watched the elimation yet but YAH! I'm glad Ashton went home! She was terrible Tuesday! I love James, Lauren and Pia and Haley and Scotty! Those are my favs! Donna |

I've got two negative things to say about last night..... PITCHY PITCHY PITCHY And what was Casey thinking????? How many voters are going to be into grunge? I hope he gets a sympathy vote from being sick. I really love him! My vote goes to Stefano again. His singing actually brought tears to my eyes around about the middle! Lauren sang beautifully too but Randy was right - her song choices are kind of boring. |
I thought Pia was good but she always is :) |
I totally agree, some of them were very pitchy. I guess my favorites last night were Scotty, Stefano and Thia. I though Paul was awful. He can do so much better. I hate the way he staggers around the stage. James and Jacob are really good, I'm just not so much into their music choices. |

It will be interesting to see who goes home tonight. |
I missed a couple of them, but was definitely disappointed in some that I saw. I'll be surprised if the elimination isn't Naima tonight. |
I was disappointed that Karen got voted off. I think she has a much better voice than some of the others. I guess the judges did not save her because they felt she would probably not go much further in the competition if they did saved her. |
i freaking love Hailey and can't stand that Randy keeps shutting her down. a great artist doesn't have to conform to one genre all the time. she's got an incredible voice and a very unique sound. who cares what song she picks it's always so interesting to listen to...i'd buy an album from her in a heartbeat!! i also like Scotty and Pia is good, and i like Paul for originality and that scruffy guy that plays bass. |
also who is ready for that darn dreadlocked woman to GO HOME?? she's super off key |

I didn't think Karen should have gone home. I like Scotty, Pia and James the best. The talent is better this year. |
It's interesting how Randy keeps picking on Haley for being all over the place with her song choices. I would imagine they don't have much creative control once they are signed under the American Idol brand name. I think shes always on key and pleasant to listen to and she's pretty too. Pia of course is blowing it out of the water, it's almost unfair how good she is. I still love Casey but he needs to keep it with the bluesy jazzy stuff. I wish Scotty wasn't so corny looking up there but he's gonna go far as long as he keeps to singing well known country songs. I'm getting kind of tired of listening to Jacob over do it on the songs, he needs to pull it back a little because he's gonna just annoy people. I'm a sucker for the underdog so I'm really rooting for Stefano to make it at least to top 5, he's really talented but I think people aren't really taking him seriously enough to vote for him. I think everyone else is kind of coasting. Naima isn't sounding so great these days and Haley hasn't made her self likeable enough to pull the votes she needs to beat out the competition, they are my two picks for going home next week. |
cant wait to see Idol tonight :) |
I would not want to judge these people it will be very hard.. they were all good tonight |
OK, I was skeptical when people were saying EVERYONE is good this year. But I thought all of them were strong in Motown. My early favorite, the fuzzy guy who plays bass, was actually among my least favorite tonight. If I HAD to pick someone to go home, it would be Stefano. |
I really liked Haley the best of the ones I saw. But I thought the costumes were not the best selection for the songs. I also felt they shouldn't have had Haley walk down those steps. She looked like she was afaird to fall (know I would be). She has a great smokey and sometimes rough growl to her voice that goes well with that song genre. Her costume I thought pretty unflattering and she looked like she could barely move in it. Stefano is certainly cute, and I think the song he picked didn't showcase his voice so well. |
