| need opinons I also posted on facebook looking for opinions from other friends: Want opinions: PCP made appt for rheumatoid arthritis specialist. Realized name was familiar read up on him on net and realized this was dr I saw several yrs ago who sd I had Psoriatic arthritis (another dr sd i didn't due to no skin rash). This dr was so rude that the 2nd time I went I took hubby. The dr spent more time fussing to jim about his weight that he really did not talk to me much. The dr is also a nutrionist. His bedside manner was so bad I never went back as I was so upset with him. I even asked the person who drew blood if he was often that way, which she sd yes and that people have complained. I called the referral person at dr and explained the problem and she is gonna find another dr. Now the question is am I over reacting? I apologized to her knowing she spent over a month trying to find someone who takes blue cross and is not too far away. Would you have done the same?

my first RA specialist put me on methotrexate. I seemed to be doing Ok with it, but when they checked my liver count it was going up. The Dr said he wasn't concerned about it and he wanted me to stay on the methotrexate. Then my PCM was concerned at the count, and said I needed to ask the specialist to take me off it. He said the count was OK. I was worried. Then a friend's wife passed away, and her husband told me that her liver had been damaged from the methotrexate she was taking. So, I immediately got a new RA specialist who didn't like my liver count and put me on different medications. Check on the net for another RA specialist in your area (some sites have patient reviews), and check if they take your insurance, then ask for a referral.

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | I dont think your over reacting at all, I would have done the exact same thing. You are going to see a doctor, he is suposed to be helping you not making you feel worse! Im sure if others have complained then they will understand.

| Everyone is making me feel better. I just am the type of person who hates to make anyone mad or make a bother. The specialsist's office called with the appt. I told her I had seen the dr before and had a problem with him so I did not want to make the appt. She said ok. I hated that the referral lady made such an effort.

| No, you aren't over reacting at all. A dr should have a pleasant disposition and be concerned with YOU the patient. You need to have some respect for him if you expect him to treat you.

| Your health is something that you and your doctor should be working.together on. If you do not feel comfortable with him/her then you can do 1 of 2 things: 1 - Have a face to face, open conversation wih hem, 2 - get another doctor. There is no reason for a doctor to.treat patients as though they owe him something. Another thing,if you do not like your doctor, chances are you will not follow his directions or prescribed mehod of treatment and hen, your health will be what suffers. You, patients have rights. Best of luck.

| you absolutely did the right thing. your doctor works for you, not the other way around. if you owned a business and had an employee who was disrespectful to you and didn't perform his work duties you would fire that employee, right? nor would you hire a new employee if you checked references and learned that he had a history of poor job performance. same principle. Your doctor's job is ensuring your health and well being. If he's not going to do his job, fire him. |

| hmm I could say I'm psychic But...... I googled for a rheumatologist in Knoxville to see if I could find one that took Blue Cross for you. His was the first name that came up and I read the reviews on him. Sounds like you are not the only one who has a problem with him.

| Hope he doesn't read yorkie talk or someone on here knows him. I just told the truth though. I am always worried about libel on forums. I read some of the reviews which how it came back to me he is the one I had trouble with. I still feel bad about all that the referral lady went through. She seemed just a tad annoyed but sd there was someone else she could call. My dr had sd some she knew she would not refer me to. Wonder why he is not on her no list. A person would think that in Knoxville there would be more choices. BCBS is a very big ins here. I guess with limited drs they can act anyway they choose. Which is very sad to me. I am a very timid person around drs especially. It took a lot for me to cancel the appt. I want to know a diagnosis so bad. If I know then I can know what my future holds and maybe get meds so I do not hurt all the time!

| have you checked out the reviews for Dr James L Burns? The only reviews looked real good and he takes Blue Cross. (there were only two reviews but they were good ones) BTW it is only libel if it isn't true.
