. Ask if they can use a "butterfly" to do the draw. Also, I would really ask them why last week's draw was "no good"...I mean, huh? Did they not centrifuge it in time or what? I dunno, I would want to know.It is not rude to ask...one thing you could do is, when you check in - ask the receptionist if there is a senior tech there who can do tough draws, but is still gentle - and tell her you would like to wait for that person.

| Last year when I got blood drawn, the tech hit a nerve. I didn't realize it until I got home and realized my hand was tingling. They better be thankful that it wasn't permanent. I'm not a fan of needles. ![]() Hmm, I'd feel funny asking for a different person too, but it's okay to do that.

| Ok, so Im the biggest baby and I always made my mom go with me. Well 4 years ago my mom moved 2500 miles away so at the age of 29 I had to go alone for the FIRST time EVER!! LOL So then I started asking for the butterfly needle, which is a TINY needle they use on infants! LOL Whatever I didn't care... but then in April I asked for it and the phlebotomist said "I don't use those" and gave me a DIRTY look! I was like 'ggeezzz... sorry' so I told her I'm a big baby. Well she used a reg needle and it was so easy! Today I had it done again with the regular needle and it was painless. This woman is GREAT at her job, but she has NO personality!

| I did have someone else do the blood draw today. No incident, and, totally unnecessary. They took my blood, and then handed me my health report for my new job. Now, I have to know if I'm nuts. First pic, my arm hours after the blood draw on Friday. Second pic, same arm today. Sorry for the low quality pics, they were taken with my phone. SSPX0297.jpgSSPX0299.jpg

| Glad for you that it is finally over and finished, and no, you are not nuts about your arm. That looks bad. |

| Would that be considered normal? Or is this something caused by the way they were drawing the blood? I spoke to the doctor and he said that it was normal to wiggle, or fish, for the vein. That I totally understand, but why would she fish for the vein when she had already filled one tube with blood? I've just never, ever had this happen before. I'm also wondering if Kaji made it worse. He likes to bury his head in my arm, and he sometimes digs. I kept trying to flip him over to the other arm but he wasn't having any of it.

| I would not think that's normal. My arm had a small red dot yesterday after the draw and today it's a slightly red dot, that's it! It looks like you just had a bad draw though, it will heal up quick enough I'm sure. But OUCH! I'm so glad I have easy big veins! next time, drink water before your visit, it will plump up those veins and make it easier on you for them to draw.

Different lab tests require different types of tubes; every tube has a different additive in order to not alter the lab result, so depending on what tests you needed done, they may have needed more than one type of tube. Next time you see someone probing, its perfectly acceptable to ask them to stop and try another vein. Being stuck twice is surely less painful that what you just endured
