I spoke to the doctor and he said that it was normal to wiggle, or fish, for the vein. That I totally understand, but why would she fish for the vein when she had already filled one tube with blood? I've just never, ever had this happen before. I'm also wondering if Kaji made it worse. He likes to bury his head in my arm, and he sometimes digs. I kept trying to flip him over to the other arm but he wasn't having any of it.
Its not abnormal but more so a complication of probing for a vein. Probing is not advised by the way, a properly trained person knows that this can traumatize the vein and the tissues surrounding it. Kaji had nothing to do with it; basically the vein bled out under the skin until it clotted. Just like a bruise really.

Different lab tests require different types of tubes; every tube has a different additive in order to not alter the lab result, so depending on what tests you needed done, they may have needed more than one type of tube.

Next time you see someone probing, its perfectly acceptable to ask them to stop and try another vein. Being stuck twice is surely less painful that what you just endured
