Thank you so much !! I am blessed to still have them and when they get this age it's like every late night call is a scare - I tell myself all the time how lucky I am to have such great living parents realizing so many don't have this luxury .....mine are 83 but it hurts your heart seeing the decline

mine is saying the same thing about having to rely on us but we keep plugging and she's making progress.....this whole month has just been a rollercoaster in so many ways

I'm sorry you lost your mom - i can tell you had to have been very very close.

Speaking of Direct tv - mine just went out - it JUST started raining and boom - it's down. There goes my morning news before going to work

edited to add - where do you get Rainex ? I've never heard of it

auto parts store or walmart i am sure there are many more places that have it

it's weird - the rain started lightly it went down - then the storm got WORSE and it came back on - it's pouring AND thundering. My 2 girls aren't very happy

I remember all my stuff going down almost every day from 1-5 in the afternoon and it took almost 2 months before a GOOD repair guy solved the problem - all the rest who came out never did fix it

good thing with cable is you don't have to worry about storms knocking out your service -

I have a whine though - there's just too many channels these days ! It blows my mind ....I never flip thru the guide because it would take me days - but I bet MEN love it

what is it about men and their remotes ? my (late) husband always held it and so does my dad ...he falls asleep with it in his hand and my poor mom (who just fractured her hip but out of the hospital thankfully) can't reach it when he does this

QUESTION - Does Pam really work to secure your service during storms with Rain ? We don't have snow in Texas but I'm up for trying it !

So true, and most of them are junk! I realized when you said this that I pay a lot of money for a ton of infomercial channels

About the pam and the rain, I don't think it would work because you aren't getting your signal due to cloud cover; it's not something blocking your dish like snow. Just a thought.

Me too - they have it set up where if there's channels you really want you have to jump up a tier and most all of the other channels ARE nothing but junk - hundreds of them

IF I didn't like the one channel I receive I'd drop the high rate and go basic because things are very tight these days

Remote? Seriously, what is that? I am pretty good at electronics, but when it comes to a remote, I have no clue. Hmm, could it be that I never get a chance to touch it? LOL. If it were not for my hubby, I wouldn't even have our Direct TV/Cable. This is pretty much the scene in my house.....

Yes!Pam really works,the rain and snow roll right off it.I've even used spray on car wax a few times!I never used Rain X,but, I can't imagine why that wouldn't work just as good.

After having a disagreement with the cable company we switched to Directv. We were happy, then Dish network came to the door offering us a deal. Was cheaper, so we switched to Dish. After several months we switched back to Directv. Only problem we have is every now and then they call with a "special" offer - last one was the whole package with NFL for only $2 more than we were paying. It was for 5 months. So, we took it. When the 5 months were up I called to cancel, only to find out we couldn't get our original package as they no longer carried it, had to select another.
Then when we got the bill, even though we cancelled the special, we were billed for the NFL Sunday ticket package. I called them and was told it would be adjusted on our next bill. I was upset at having to pay the extra that month. Being on a limited income every penny counts.

But we do prefer Directv over Dish network.

LOL I hear you - we had 2 raindrops the other morning and boom... down I went - the weird thing is - when it really started raining it came back on

I miss having cable - but the good ones aren't offered in my apartment complex - the cable wasn't bad when I first moved here but when tv made the switchover - I didn't like the changes in their service (they dropped alot of features) so went to Direct tv -

I'm with you V i miss having cable, having the local news was something now we don't even have that, our local now is Nashville and i live 90 miles away in Ky. i think direct changes their charges every month or two we get a bill for x amount for a couple of months then here comes one with $5 to $10 extra added on. I would have to tell them what to do with it but the remote king is really addicted big time

You nailed it ! we start out with a set bill and for some reason - it gets higher and higher - I don't even have movie channels and my bill is stupidly outrageous. All the phone companies and cable companies can nickle and dime you silly and there isn't a thing we can do but complain and hope they make it right.

edited to add - when a tv goes down for any length of time - you can call them to take those daily charges off your bill cause IF you don't speak up - you're paying for a service you aren't even getting.

I left directv for dish network for their multi room DVR... Worst decision ever every little thing my tv goes out, sometimes it's sunny outside and it still says searching for signal. It's gets very annoying when you are recording something and it just re-boots, long story short I'm going back to directv they will be coming on the 29th to install and I couldn't be happier!

wow - makes you wonder about all the claims they have on tv commercials

I hear alot of people go to dish network -then BACK to Direct tv - that says alot
