Donating YT 500 Club Member | Not me, but dh would love to go, I'm sure. He got to deer hunt the King Ranch in south Texas a few years back, talked about seeing the hogs there and wanted to go back to hunt them. He likes to hunt just about any kind of wildlife.....and loves to fish too!

| My brothers hunt but I just can't do it. I always think of Bambi. I can eat the deer or whatever my brothers get, but I just can't/won't kill it myself. Now fishing is another story - I love to fish!! We have lots of lakes and ponds around here with great fishing.

We had a baby deer right in back of the house this morning that came out of the tree line in the woods. Little bitty thing, and just learning to walk.

| My wife is not into hunting but she tolerates me doing it. Just the opportunity to spend time outside, and the challenge. I never was into hunting until I stayed at my cousins spead years ago, and saw what the hogs did to the land. Now, there are millions of them down there. I only go after the Trophy size ones, as their is more sport to it. Will also take one (a small one) for meet and give to a local Shelter. |

* Apparently, there is a considerable boar population here in the area. (Although in all my time in the woods here, I've never seen one...not that I want to.) * On the WMAs, they have 'boar season' and on certain weekends only, you can run dogs to hunt them. * Apparently durning season, the only time you can have hunting breeds in WMAs is on these specific weekends. Welllll...we didn't know that. And we were out there, during one of these weekends, unbeknownst to us, with our hound who tags along when we go offroad. Got pulled over and they thought we were using her to hunt. Finally convinced the warden that Flash couldn't hunt if her life depended on it an unless I would bring down a hog by throwing cans of Diet Pepsi at it, I certainly wasn't going to be able to kill one.

We take our 3 pups on the boat fishing and they love it. There are pictures of them out on the boat in their life jackets in my albums. They love it! There was talk of allowing some deer hunting this Fall in Will County because of the overpopulation of deer. Of course there are the Chicago bobcat sitings a few years ago.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Steve....you and my DH would get along well. He loves all kinds of hunting. As for me, I only fish. But I LOVE to fish. I am addicted to Alaska fishing, so when I come back home all I do is complain. A few months back here in the city they were clearing some land for resort building. They allowed men to go out there and kill all the hog they wanted. LOL Yep...lots of Hogs in Texas. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | My sister and me used to go fishing w/ my Dad when we were kidlets - every summer in Northern Wisconsin. My Dad used to hunt deer; my Stepdad still hunts deer. I could never hunt myself bc I'd probably just cry and turn into a big puddle. Plus, I don't eat meat , but my hubby does, which is just fine. Some people in my hubby's family hunt deer and ducks and they all fish. So, we have a mix of all types - and it's all good !

| That's hilarious! I take it spotting a bobcat is a big deal there then? Like, honest bobcat, or are we talking cougar? That's just funny because they (bobcats) are so common here that no one gives them much notice. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I'm not a hunter, and had no idea wild pigs were such a problem in Texas, I also had no idea of their size, yikes that would scare me to death. How fast are they? I use to love to love to fresh water fish, but I went deep sea fishing, and it ruined me for any other fishing, that was so much fun, and every moment was exciting. You have to live by an ocean to do it regularly though, and we're not very close anymore.

| I grew up in a family of hunters, but never could really take to it myself. My dh bass fishes (catch and release) and deer hunts. I like to go out and sit on the boat or in the tree and take pictures of wildlife and nature. I have seen some amazing things, but one of my funniest memories was when DH was whistling to me from another tree that it was time to go, and I couldn't move because there was a skunk under my stand!
